TOPSS - The Training Organisation for the Personal Social Services - responsible for social work training in the UK.

CCETSW - The Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work - was responsible for professional training until April 2001, when responsibility then moved to the GSCC & TOPSS (above). Still lots of good info on the site, though.

There's not a lot on the web about Practice Teaching specifically so you might like to go to this CAREDATA search for information on Practice Teaching - you'll find info about 137 articles and abstracts on the subject if you type 'Practice Teaching' into the 'Keywords' section. CAREDATA is part of ELSC - The Electronic Library for Social Care.

SWAPltsn - the subject centre for Social Policy and Social Work - one of 24 discipline-based centres, which form the UK-wide Learning and Teaching Support Network (LTSN) with the main aim of promoting high quality learning, teaching and assessment in our subject areas. Activities include:

ILT - the Institute for Learning and Teaching in Higher Education. They've recently approved the CCETSW Practice Teaching Award as a direct route into membership of the ILT. If you have completed this award after September 1997, you may apply directly for ILT membership.
