Youth Service Page

The Chairman of the Youth Service Committee for 2001/2002 continues for another year as Rotarian Robert Pasierb. Rob made a major impression with this Committee last year and continues with a full programme.
Robert's programme of activity includes:-
- School Year Exchange - The Committee are committed to this project for 2002/3, subject to Rotarians being willing to act as hosts. They have suggested adding a further £1000 to the fund reserved for this project.
- School Year Exchange visit to District 1220. - again the Committee look forward to hosting these students on thier visit to District 1220. We will liaise with other Clubs regarding the programme.
- Involvement with Local Schools - The Committee have agreed to seek the involvement of the local schools in a number of the projects listed below:-
- Young Cook ( task:- to cook a 2-course meal for 2).
- Technology Tournament.
- Design a Web Site.
- Warsop Youth Newsletter - discussions have taken place with the Warsop Youth Development Worker regarding the provision of a newsletter for the youth of Warsop. The Committee have suggested the promise of a donation should the project become viable.
- Shirebrook Cyber Cafe - this project will continue to be developed with the organisers.
- Welbeck Warriors - continued support will be given to junio cricket in Warsop.
- Football Tournament - continued support will be given to this competition between special needs schools, organised in conjunction with Subbin Wood School.
- Short Term Exchanges - exchanges for 14-16 year old children for 1-2 weeks will be encouraged.
- Fund Raising - in additon to support for the general fund raising events, the Committee wil be looking towards arranging its own fellowship/fund raising event.
- Twinning - the Committee proposes a nothly raffle be held to add to the twinning funds already in place.
- The Committee have also committed themselves to supporting the Club's drive for new members.
