International and Foundation Committee Page
Accepting the inevitability of last year, when the two Committees of International and Foundation met together in order to progress their programmes, this year the two have been combined into the single Committee under the chairmanship of Rotary Phil Lyons. With the best of both worlds, last year's chairman of International, Rtarial Graham Goff remains on this Committee to give Phil full support. The programme this year includes:-
- Sigt Savers - it is proposed to continue with the collection of spectacles and in addition make a conation to Sight Savers to continue funding of this important work.
- Aqua Box Project - it is proposed to purchase 3 boxes already filled and also a video for use in the promotion of this programme.
- RIBI Link Weekend - the Committee support the Club's involvement in this link weekend for Abassadorial Scholars, which takes place on 28th - 30th September, 2001.
- GSE Programme - it is consided that should the GSe programme continue this year, then the RC of Warsop should be involved in terms of hosting and presentation at Club Meetings.
- Long Term Project - The development of a centre of excellence for children in Belarus is a continuing project. The award if a Discovery Grant would enable an evaluation visit, probably in September of 2001. We remain committed to this project with the Shepshed Charnwood Club.
- Emergency Fund - the Committee believe that a budget be put aside to enable us to react to situations as they arise.
- Tools for Self Reliance - these will be collected for transportation to Belarus.
- Twin Club Activities - the ongoing programme will be kept under review; on the agenda is included an invite for the Zofingen children to come back to use.
- Social Events - a visit to the Japanese Garden arranged for 16th August, 2001. After that, they are determined to
- Fund Raising - The Duck Race at Warsop Carnival continues to grow. The Easter Egg Hunt will be continued in 2002 nd hopefully extended to Shirebrook. A murder/mystery evening will be organised as a fellowship event.
