NEW
THIS SUMMER!
Colombine Cottage
We
have renovated our prune-oven barn. We're not sure exactly how old
the building is but it features on the Plan Napoleon, which makes
it at least 160 years! The cottage is newly equipped and furnished,
and sleeps up to 8 in three bedrooms - one double (160x200), one
twin (2 beds 90x200) and one room with 2 beds (90x200) and 2 chairs
that pull out into single beds (80x190). There is one bathroom with
bath, open shower, washbasin and WC; a separate WC with hand washbasin;
and a shower room with washbasin and shower. The cottage is all
on one level, so there are no stairs to negotiate, and is wheelchair
accessible. It has its own large garden and swimming pool
and is completely independent of our other cottage, which is approximately
50 metres away.
Where
possible we have retained the character of the original building,
which was open on two sides. Original stone and wood beams feature
prominently. The dining room retains the openness of the original
by having two large, sliding windows all along one side, giving
the room a light, airy feel. The horseshoe-shaped kitchen fits snugly
into the old prune-drying area.
For
those seeking winter accommodation or a long let, the prune-barn
cottage is double-glazed, well insulated and has central-heating
.

Some
quotes from wheelchair users
"Being
a C4/C5 tetraplegic using an electric wheelchair, I found this house
one of the most accessible Ive ever come across."
"It
was with a lot of excitement and trepidation that we set out for
our first trip to France. Why trepidation? As a C5/6 tetraplegic
I was more than a little concerned that our holiday would be unsuitable.
How wrong I was! On arrival at Colombine we found that the barn
had not only been beautifully converted, it had been sympathetically
adapted."
