I have a Cateye Velo 8 computer on the bike which measures Ride Time, Trip Distance, Average Speed, Maximum Speed, Calories, and Cumulative Total Distance. The most curious of these is Calories, which it quotes to one decimal place. How can it be so accurate when it doesn't know how much baggage I'm carrying, or whether I'm going up or down hill?
This table summarises the stats noted in the diary at the end of each day.
| Day | Dist | Ride Time | Ave Speed | Max Speed | Cum. Dist | Calories |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 63.73 | 6.18.08 | 10.1 | 34.0 | 63.7 | 1499.4 |

Apart from the 21 miles on the last day, the average distance was 72 miles per day.
I'm not sure what 18500 calories means, but I was surprised to find I had only lost 1.5kg weight during the fortnight. Better than most holidays though.
