Day 6 Friday 9 July Wem - Preston

I image had a target of around 75 miles to get to Charlie and Anne's. In contrast to most of the other days' riding, a lot of this was through industrial areas of the north-west. I just ploughed on, and the weather was less evil than the previous couple of days.

image This was one of the most difficult junctions to negotiate on a loaded bike: Junction 23 where the M6 meets the A580 running between Manchester and Liverpool, and the A49 that I was on. Not fun.

image From Merseyside, I entered Lancashire, and was mystified by this sign - "Lancashire Cycleway". What does this represent? For the rest of the day, I saw no provision for cyclists anywhere.

I got to Charlie and Anne's earlier than I had anticipated and enjoyed the luxury of a warm welcome for an evening.
