Career Goals

I am interested in many fields of the visualisation/multimedia areas, I'd have to say level design for computer games appeals to me the most. This was my main topic for my Master's project. For the practical side of things i produced a replica of the 'Cleveland shopping centre' for the game Unreal Tournament. I produced three versions of the map a) a VR walkaround version b) a Death-match version and c) a capture the flag version. For the written side of the project, I wrote a 16,000 word report on the future of games.

For my degree's main project I did the year before I also based my project on computer games, but as my degree was mainly a 3D animation course, my project was: creating an opening full motion video (FMV) sequence for a made up game I called 'Virus'.

The courses I studied at Teesside University were not just about the visual and interactive aspects of games and virtual reality, they were also heavily into the multimedia side of things, such as web design and CD Rom design. These two roles are probably an area I can see myself heading towards rather than the games/vr and animation fields, as there seems to be more employment opportunities available.

Since graduating from my MA I have done some CD Rom and Website work. You can see most of the work I have done in the web and multimedia sections.

Industry standard packages and languages I can use include: Softimage, 3Ds Max, Unreal Ed, Photoshop, Premiere, Director, Flash, Dreamweaver, Cool edit, Soundforge, Raw DHTML coding and VRML coding. Not to mention many other packages in various areas.
