2D Art
Welcome to my 2D graphics page. All 2D images have been created using Adobe's Photoshop. I use 2D graphics for all areas of work, including: Textures for animations and games, graphics for web and CD ROM applications (such as rollovers, titles etc), also for cd, dvd and video sleeve covers, and for posters and logo's etc etc. Basically I use Photoshop for anything and everything. Below is a selection of 2D imagery, with an explanation to each piece. All the pictures you see on this page are available for free as larger images all zipped up in the 'Downloads' section.

Like all my 2D images these were also made in Photoshop. To make these I used various photographs, and edited them together. The graveyard was made from four digital photographs that were taken in Oxbridge graveyard (in Stockton) and a graveyard in Guisbrough. I started off with a blank black template and then cut out the gravestones from the photo's and added it to my scene. I used a tree to become the centre piece, and carried on working from there. Originally all photos were taken in the day time, but when I put my image together I decided to go for a atmospheric night photo with smog, and the moon shining through etc.
The moon image was made from a few photographs taken in New Marske Woods. The landscape photo used shows Roseberry topping in the background, this was the main image I worked on. Before changing the scene to what I had in mind, I first needed to tidy up this photograph by editing it in such ways as: getting rid of lens flares from the sun, and smoothing out the pixels etc. When it came to actually adding things to the scene, I put in a couple more trees on either side of the image. I also changed the sun into the moon by using a separate image of the moon and composited it into the scene. To finish the image I changed the overall look from day time to a night time 1920's style photograph. This image is not meant to be realistic, but more fantasy, as is the other.

These two images were made in Photoshop, they are both logo's made using the same
theme, i.e. that of using chrome effects. The Incubus image (a Californian band) is meant to be a screen wallpaper for your desktop (this and enlarged version are still not the actual desktop size, these are just demos).
The Mallratz image is a logo for an Unreal Tournament level of the Cleveland shopping centre (A shopping centre in Middlesbrough town, near where I live), as it is for the Unreal Tournament game, the Cleveland shopping centre is set in the future, where it is now an arena for team deathmatches.

These two sunscreen images were solely made in PhotoShop. I had to come up with a campaign to bring awareness to the public that you should not neglect sunscreen.

These two images are video covers to animations made in Softimage. The Roswell assignment brief was for 'A great Discovery'. I chose to do about The Roswell UFO crash in 1947 (2nd year degree subject). The second video sleeve is for my final year project on my degree. You can read more about these two animations in the 3D section, as well as see screen shots.
