My Journey of Faith
I was born in Wakefield on 15th May 1964 and brought up to go to church. At the age of 15 I was taken along to a Dick Saunders Crusade meeting in Bedford. Although I would have described myself as a 'believer in God' I wasn't living for Him, but myself. However, at this meeting on 16th August 1979 things dramatically changed. At the end of the meeting I responded to the call to leave my seat and come to the front for prayer. After praying a simple prayer asking Jesus to forgive me for living a selfish life without Him, I asked Him to enter into my life. The moment I prayed that prayer I immediately sensed a tremendous change deep within my heart. It was as though someone had taken a great weigh from off of my shoulders.
A year later after attending Roise Street, Pentecostal Church in Bedford I learned that I had been 'born again'. I learned that the moment I confessed my sin and received Christ I was given a new life in Him. Thankfully things have not been quite the same since! During this time I was baptised by full-immersion as a sign of my new life in Christ and in 1982 God filled me with His Holy Spirit.
It was not long after this my wife and I were called to serve God in the Methodist Church. I was first trained as a lay preacher and then after a long struggle was accepted by the church into the full-time ministry. I trained at Wesley College, Bristol from 1995 to 1997. My family and I were then sent to the Isle of Wight where we spent 5 happy years seeing Him do amazing things in the lives of ordinary people. We are now living near Lincoln and are continuing to see His gracious hand at work in small ways and big.
After being a Christian 28 years I can say that God is faithful! Jesus Christ is alive and His Holy Spirit IS real and present within and amongst us.
