HIMALAYAN BOWLS & TUNING FORKS

HIMALAYAN SINGING BOWLS

These bowls first appeared in the West, or so it is said in around 1970 as a result of 'Hippie' travellers spending time in India.

Many people have tried to find information on these bowls but precious little is actually known or spoken about them.  Many bowls that are available today come from various regions, so the bowls are more referred to today as Himalayan Bowls rather than Tibetan.

They are made of between 5 - 9 different metals, and this is why they sing so beautifully when struck of played. Many of the older and more ancient bowls were actually hand beaten, but today more modern bowls alas are more machine made.

The Bowls can be used around or on a client by a trained therapist, and there are many different techniques that can also be used when playing the Bowls during a therapy session.

The bowls mainly available today are made from a combination of gold, silver, copper, lead, mercury, tin and iron.

The bowls come in varying sizes from the tiny machine made Japanese bowls with their high pitched beautiful sounds to the very large and older style bowls which deeply resonate when played.

Unlike Crystal Singing Bowls which give off one pure note, Himalayan Bowls tend to have one dominant note, but this changes as the bowl is played, and can depend on what implement you actually choose to play the bowl with, such as a hard or soft  wood stick, or a leather bound stick. Each will create a different sound when used on a Himalayan Bowl.

Himalayan bowls can be used to realign and balance the energy system, which in turn helps to balance the physical, emotional and mental bodies.  They can also be used to balance the energy between the left and right hemispheres of the brain.

Using these bowls during a healing session is a truly relaxing and special experience.  Therapists can work with the bowls in different ways, they can be played around and over you, they can be placed directly onto your body and played or occasionally struck. The therapist also has many other ways of incorporating different sounds when using the bowls.  One of these is by using their mouth as a cavity for the sound of the bowls, this creates its own almost out of this world sound, this can be used to remove stubborn energy blockages.

During any work with the bowls, we respect their sacredness, and work from the heart with the highest intent for the person that we are working with.  All of our bowls are cleansed and blessed after every treatment.

Another tool that we personally work with are the Himalayan Bells, which were used in sacred ceremonies and rites.  These beautiful bells give off a pure sound when played with a wooden Puja (stick), when striking these it is best to use a leather covered stick, otherwise the sound is too loud and overpowering, certainly to use during a healing session.  So great care and respect should be taken when using these bells.

The other things that many therapists use are the ting shaws which are a type of cymbals used mainly for clearing and setting the energy in a healing space, the sounds of these are also very pure, and also very individual as you will see if you try various types. What ever sounds right to your ear will be the ones that you choose.

BIOSONIC TUNING FORKS

We offer a Chakra Balance using the Himalayan bowls, or a full Sound Therapy where along with the Himalayan Bowls, we use the voice, crystal bowls, gong and percussion.

Tuning Forks are now being used more and more by therapists, and we are now pleased to be able to offer you this therapy.

Although unlike our other forms of Sound Therapy where you can hear the sounds very clearly, with tuning forks the sound is more focused around the area where a therapist is actually working.

The vibration from these healing tools is very focused as we said, they are audible to the human ear when passed around the head a shoulders. In saying that the tuning forks can be passed in and around the aura, where although the sound may not be audible to the client, the vibration from the tuning forks can be felt within the energy system.

Once struck the weighted end of the tuning fork can also be used directly on the client, over energy points that we have throughout the body, the areas that acupuncturists use during their treatment, or areas where suitable, that they have an imbalance.

Tuning forks can be used to work on the Chakras and Meridians of the energy system for more focused work.  They are used to clear blockages within the channels of energy and to realign that energy into total balance.

Tuning forks are also an excellent tool to use when working on the spine and back problems, they are also very effective on joint problems.

A new and exciting form of Sound Healing, tuning forks are used by Rob during his sound healing sessions which comprise of voice toning and over toning, and the use of tuning forks to bring the clients energy and physical body back into total balance and harmony..
