Army Catering Corps
1941 - 1993
Our Corps, the Army Catering Corps was formed in 1941 with the express orders "to feed the troops". It never had the Royal
title, to which we richly deserved, but then again people looked upon us as "just cooks" for quite sometime. However 70,000
were badged into the Corps during the war years and a similar number up until 1993 when we subsumed into the
Royal Logistic Corps.
Our Soldiers were attached to regiments and corps of the British
Army, in small numbers (seventeen to a Battalion) and the ACC were present at every skirmish, every battle, on every front in every
war since 1941. But of course the men in the ACC was not recognized as ACC They were part of the Regiment in which they served
