THIS YEARS' CRACK
Well here were again, the
Pope and Paul got the truck down to the track in good time, in fact
Paul overtook two vehicles in one go - which is a first since the Popemobile
was born.
Our
thanks go out to Kevin for finding a way into the track on Sunday and
Philippe, our new best friend from France for marking out a space for
the Popemobile.
Joe & Wrinkly Ray were unable to make this years trip due to some
spurious reason, probably Joe was getting his leg over somewhere and
as he is now very old, he has to take what's on offer, when it's available.
Geoff Davies & John Lloyd were welcome tourists this year - Goeff
as you will recall couldn't come last year because his wife said so
and John, because he has so many family commitments (for a non-catholic
by Christ he has got some kids).
The usual people were in attendance and we had a bloody fantastic time!
The Pope has been slowing down over the last couple of years but because
we are normally pissed, we hadn't really noticed. However, he has been
for a check up and has had a pacemaker fitted. He is now like a spring
chicken and all I have got to say is 'Brenda - you'd better have your
running shoes on - ALL THE TIME'.
There was a massive increase in swimming pools this year and it made
our teeny weeny one look silly. Look out next year boys!!!
The Pope did manage to get the flagpole to even greater heights - We've
had correspondence from the French Civil Aviation Authority, regarding
our blue strobe light
It was good to see all the usual tourists, Brenda & Nick, Pete &
Lyn and the Beer Mountain.com (http://www.beermountain.com)
and I hope to see you all next year - Let's hope that the weather is
as good.
The Popemobile
ran out of petrol, the Pope doesn't make that sort of mistake
- Simon must accept the blame graciously.
We'd like to thank Steve of Aberbeeg and Daniel of Ultra Pontem for
getting us a recording of the record "Stuck Behind The Popemobile"
by the Welsh band Man. Thanks also to Tracey for getting us a mention
on Radio Le Mans and Merlin
for putting us on the World Wide Web.
God bless you all
