One of the simplest forms of embroidery, cross stitch is very easy to learn even the for the most novice of stitchers and soon becomes addictive .

In fact I believe if you can thread a needle then you can create your own work of art in cross stitch.

Once you get the hang of it , which I promise will not take long, some small designs can be completed in a weekend.

The smaller designs can be suitable for children but I would recommend they use a smaller count fabric i.e 11 count Aida.

As a keen stitcher myself for over 20 years I have tried to design charts that are easy to read and a pleasure to stitch. I design all my charts manually so I can ensure they contain the minimum number of shades and only whole stitches where I can. Larger and more detailed designs may contain some part stitches, but these are easily mastered.

The charts are made up of black and white symbols with coloured lines to denote backstitch and larger designs are printed over 2 or 3 pages to maintain clarity. They are all designed to be stitched using DMC six stranded thread which is easily available.

Full instructions are included along with a reference picture of the finished design
