MY BIKES

MAY 99 TO
PRESENT - YAMAHA YZF-R1
| First of a new generation of superbikes the R1 is in a class of its own, watching those digits climb and climb on the speedometer becomes a strange fixation. | |

MAY 96 TO
MAY 99 - KAWASAKI ZX7R
| I remember going to the bike show at the N.E.C Birmingham in November 1995 to see the new GSXR750 Suzuki, when I saw the ZX7R it was love at first sight and all GSXR thoughts disappeared, the following May I could resist no longer. | |

DEC 94 TO
MAY 96 - KAWASAKI ZX9R
| I should remember the ZX9R as being a legal rocket, but to be truthful I remember it more for a broken collarbone, missed trip to the 95 Isle of Man TT and a £2,000 repair bill. | |

SEPT 93 TO
DEC 94 - SUZUKI GSXR750L
| One of my all time favorite bikes and certainly the best handling bike of its era, I still personally think that the GSXR lost its butch/hooligan image when the later beam framed versions arrived. | |

MAY 93 TO
SEPT 93 - YAMAHA FZR600
| For years the only real race replica 600, the CBR was too bland, ZZR nice motor shame about the handling and the GSX was not even in the same class. | |

JAN 93 TO
MAY 93 - YAMAHA FZ600
| 138 mph flat on the tank, not bad for an 8 valve, air cooled 600, looked great, sweet handling too, Trouble was it just felt too small. More of a 400 than a 600 which is what it was really, a XJ600 motor squeezed into a 400 frame. | |

APRIL 92 TO
JAN 93 - YAMAHA FZ750/RD350
| The R1 started here, the first of the 20 valve motors, I still remember the adrenaline rush this bike gave me. The first bike that I personally broke the 150 mph barrier on. I sold it in November 92 and bought a RD350LC (83 model) (no pic available) which I planned to modify however I found the return to two-strokes a nightmare and soon sold it on. | |

AUG 91 TO
APRIL 92 - KAWASAKI GPZ750
| My first real Kawasaki I had huge plans for this bike none of which really materialized. One of the best bikes of the early 80's | |

1989/91 -
SUZUKI GS550E/GS1000G
| The GS550 was my first big four-stroke, this was a great bike and the bike that took me away from the two-stroke RD's, The GS1000 that followed it (no pic available) was not my favorite bike of all time and almost drove me back again. | |

1988/89 -
YAMAHA RD250E
| My last aircooled RD a bitsa built up from the remains of the many previous ones. It managed to a top speed of 107 mph after I fitted earlier 'B' model pistons with dykes rings to an otherwise standard engine. | |

1985/87 -
YAMAHA RD400E
| Having swopped an RD200 for a blown up RD400, I decided to rebuild it rather than use it for spares as orginally intended, this was the result, little actually remained of the original | |

1983/85 -
YAMAHA RD250E
| My first real bike, the first time I hit 6,000 rpm I thought my arms were going to snap a feeling I had never experienced before and never have since. | |
THE OTHERS
| This is by no means a complete list of the bikes I have owned, but they are the ones I am proud to have owned, there were others that are not pictured here simply for the reason that I took no pictures of them and others that I don't wish to remember - well not for long anyway. |
