Enjoy a great day out in our area on us!

As the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team is located in some of the best open country that can be found we have some suggested walk ideas to explore some of the scenery and local history in our local area.

So, in an effort to promote safe active mountain sports, on this page you will find a collection of walking routes submitted by the member's of the Holme Valley Team to share with you.

These walks have been prepared by Duke of Edinburgh Award participants as a project for their Expedition section of the Award who have been trained and supported by Holme Valley Team Members.

Each of the routes are to be found in the form of an Adobe Acrobat file that you can download and print out. On each sheet there is a map extract showing the route, details of the start and finish location together with a route profile and walking description highlighting things to see and points of interest.

These routes may be used by other Duke of Edinburgh's Award groups for expedition ideas (suggested Award levels are indicated below). We hope you enjoy our growing collections of walks!

Walking fact sheet
This route would be suitable for Duke of Edinburgh's Silver Expedition level.

With the theme of transport through the ages you'll pass by remnants from the canal and railway tunnel construction as well as walk along a old pack horse trail.
