Collar calico
Back
ECWS/SK

Simple shirt, made in two versions: either made from 100% cotton calico, or 100% linen. They are un-yoked with a gathered neck, long sleeves that are "plain-set" into the shoulder, ie not gathered: they have an underam gusset for ease of movement, and the sleeves terminate in a simple cuff with tie tapes. They are collarless, and have a simple tie-tape closure to the neck opening.

The neck opening is bound, and has simple tie tapes. As you can see, there is a small amount of machine stitching visible, around the front slit: you will observe that there is no modern front facing on this style of shirt. For Living History or improved authenticity, you might like to unpick this stitching and re-work it by hand. (Or you could just get it good and grubby then no-one will notice!)
Common shirt: neck opening
