Canal Club: Work Parties.

This is the best part, in my opinion: committee meetings are needed to ensure the efficient running of the group, but I find that getting my hands dirty is much more fun, and an essential part of the restoration process.

In fact, in many cases, it is only the hard work of volunteer restorers that keeps the line of the Canal at all visible. And, to be honest, if you can present a stretch of nicely restored line, with water, tidy banks, and a useable towpath to walk on, well, it gets a whole lot easier for sponsors to visualise the possibility of getting the whole thing up and running.

Here are the links to my photographic records of various days of work: just use the list of titles in the grey box to the left to jump between them. They are listed in reverse date order, ie most recent at the top.

If you want to trawl back through the past couple of years, click here to go to the archive section, kindly provided by our own archivist, Doug.

If you think this looks like fun (it is) and a bit like hard work (it can be, but we go very much at our own pace!) then why not come along and have a go. No obligation! If you like it, you can join us and do it regularly, or as irregularly as you like. We officially go out every second and fourth Saturday, and there are additional Monday Extras for the retired folks who are either gluttons for punishment, or have realised that there's nothing like fresh air and exercise to keep you young. If you're not quite sure, feel free to drop me an e-mail with any questions.
