William Latham

Presentation by William Latham 7.30 pm at the Hanbury Ballroom, 83 St Georges Road, Brighton

William Latham gave a talk entitled Mutation Art and Computer Games. He gave a chronological overview of his work over the last 20 years, spanning fine art, research, the music industry, computer games, evolutionary design systems, and business.

Latham is best known for his pioneering work in evolutionary art which he collaboratively produced with IBM UK between 1987 and 1993. Subsequently he worked in the computer games industry, exploring the use of artificial intelligence techniques. Now Latham has re-emerged into the public conscience with a return to his earlier evolutionary art (frozen since 1993) with projects such as 'Mutation Code Resurrection'. Latham is currently a Research Fellow at Goldsmith's College London, where he is developing the MUTATOR code.

This event was produced in association with Digiville.
