Creative Systems Lab Open Seminar at the University of Sussex
Generative art and creativity ... how the laptop changes things

Room 121, Falmer house, University of Sussex, Falmer.
This room is above the student shop in the main entrance.

As the laptop has become cheaper and more powerful, portable real time digital performance has become commonplace in all areas of the arts and entertainment. It is a vibrant but still undefined territory in which to create. From the illegal raves of subculture computer jockeys to research scientists creating generative algorithms that mimic life itself, laptops have immense potential as tools of discovery and as means of expression for artists, scientists and the general public. The afternoon will be a mix of presentations and discussion led by a panel including:

Nye Parry
Composer and sound artist at Middlesex University

Caretsian Lover
Parisian audio-visual collaboration

Max St John
DACS/cycling74

Transport
Take the train to Falmer station or the 25/25c bus to the University of Sussex.
