Background
After taking a degree at Chelsea Art College in 3D Design (specialising in Interiors), Emma lived in Nairobi, Kenya for three years. Whilst in Nairobi she worked for Roger Pass Interiors, specialising mainly in commercial buildings, including hotels throughout Kenya, banks and offices, both modern and traditional. The rich culture and colours available in Kenya, led Emma to further develop her colour pallet, developing an interest in Garden Design and photography.
On her return to the UK, Emma worked for Hazel Interiors. Influenced by friends who had themselves designed gardens for Chelsea Flower show, she decided to train as a garden designer (between having children), with an aim to bring her two professions together one day. She worked for various landscape contractors for a few years doing planting plans and designing private domestic gardens. With today's market dominated by the design of houses and gardens, and with Home Staging becoming increasingly popular in this country, she felt that the time was right to set up "In Through the Outdoor" (the company name having been inspired by the Led Zeppelin album of the same title)!
At In Through the Outdoor we hold the following qualifications:
- Diploma in Garden Design (Distinction), Merrist Wood
- Diploma in Interior Decoration, Chelsea College of Art & Design - City & Guilds Certificate in Gardening, Merrist Wood
