Why meditate, surely the same benefit can be achieved by just relaxing, resting or sleeping?

Relaxation of the body alone can only provide temporary relief from stress and tension as without peace of mind muscles soon tighten and shoulders stiffen.

Meditation does more than physically relax the body and calm the mind - by listening to your intuition, your innermost thoughts and feelings you gain confidence to trust your own judgement, your creativity is enhanced and you become aware of the beauty of life.

Meditation enhances a healer's ability to channel healing energy.

All the meditations on this site have been written by me following guidance from my own meditation experiences and have been taught to my meditation students. I use a variety of techniques for teaching meditation.
There are meditations suitable for beginners and the more experienced meditator.

You will find
meditations to promote health, meditations to channel, meditations to relax, meditations to connect to higher self, meditations using crystals ,meditations using a mantra, and visualization meditations.

The benefits of meditating in a group are that the energy is increased when meditating in a group. It is particularly beneficial when meditation is used for self- healing or absent healing. (See
Reiki Healing methods for more information on this). The visualization method is particularly good for this kind of work. Another benefit is that for people new to meditation, by having someone in the group read a visualization meditation it helps members of a group to focus and slip more easily into a meditation state.

For this reason I have been prompted to offer the benefits of belonging to a meditation group on the internet. I hope you will take meditations to use in your own groups. Or if working alone you could record the meditations in your own voice to use in private meditation. Some meditations involve simply attuning to a crystal or using a mantra. I hope the meditations may provide the basis for a course in spiritual awakening. I welcome the input from fellow meditators and earth healers on the guidance they receive while using my meditations, and will share these experiences through my site.


The benefits of meditation are:

• To be relaxed not only in body but also in mind. To experience relief from the minds constant restlessness and chatter, and to feel silent and at peace within.

• To feel the muscles of the body have relaxed deeply. To feel rested yet energized.

• An increase in attention and ability to stay centered under pressure.

• To feel calm and able to distance yourself from worries.

• With regular meditation a strengthened immune system and protection from stress related disease.

• To have relaxed rather than tensed muscles and therefore almost eliminate headaches and back/shoulder pain associated with 
tense muscles.

• A speedier recovery from stress and a reduction in the use of caffeine, tobacco, alcohol and drugs, and a reduced need for medical care.

• To be calm and confident, have clarity and clearsight and to empathize with others.

• To have improved health and younger looks and to have less chance of heart attacks, with more efficient physiological functioning.

• Emotionally one of the benefits of meditation is happiness from within, not the transitory happiness from material possessions. The greatest contribution to human happiness is meditation as it is the only way to cut through the stranglehold our thought process has on our experience and the way of being in the world. From meditation you learn to listen to the quiet voice within 

• Spiritually meditation will benefit you by putting you in touch with your higher self, enabling you to transcend the body and mind to an awareness of spirit.
