Pumas Basketball Club believes in the value of participation. We feel that members will reap great rewards from bettering their performance and improving their self-esteem. This in turn will lead to success both on and off the court.

Objectives

To enable our participants to reach their potential and fulfil their dreams while raising self esteem of our youth through playing basketball regardless of gender, colour, creed or national origin.

To inspire the participants with the ideals of health, communication and character.

To create the ideals of teamwork and friendship.

To develop our own players enabling them to reach their potential in an exciting and challenging manner.

It is our belief that the Pumas Programme will be a positive life experience.

Any child, male or female will have the opportunity to play basketball whether it be recreationally or competitively. Any child showing commitment and a positive attitude will always hold a place in any of our programs.

Our programs should be positive experiences. We believe that mistakes are not intentionally made.

Sport psychology plays a major role in all of the Pumas programmes. Participants must always have a positive attitude and mind. Words such as can't are not acceptable at any time or age. Participants must have belief in themselves and their abilities. The coaches at all levels make this a priority.

The moment participants cross the sideline of the court they are physically and mentally ready to play.

The Puma's basketball coaches and staff have great respect for each and every associate of the club. We expect the same courtesy. Good manners and behaviour will be expected at all times whether it be training or match days.

Giving up is not an option. This involves training sessions and match days. Whatever the score Pumas Basketball Club members will give maximum effort at all times.

Pumas Basketball Club wishes to uphold their good name. Any person associated with the club found breaking any rule may be liable to attend a disciplinary hearing.

The participants on court will play within the rules. Participants are encouraged to play competitively but fairly. Any player that becomes too aggressive or loses concentration on court will automatically be placed on the bench for a period determined by the coach. In extreme cases the coach may ask the player to leave the court.

No player will argue with the referee or other members of the team. Parents are encouraged to be pro-active in their child's basketball development.
Parents are also asked to be positive at all times throughout the Pumas Programmes. Negative comments or abuse at training or on match days is strictly forbidden. If the parents have any comments to make they should be directed towards the coach at a separate time.

The Pumas coaching team welcome all comments and observations.
