We have seen a dramatic increase over the past five years in ladies' basketball in the States.
We have also seen slight improvements in some areas of Britain. Yet it is our belief at Pumas that these improvements are nowhere near enough.

For instance, how many people know that Sheffield Hatters Ladies have won the 1st division for the past 11 years?

It is our belief at Pumas Basketball Club that if girls are given the opportunity to play, in a club setting or recreationally, the majority will grow to love the game.

How many times have you heard or been told that 'girls don't play basketball' or, even more patronisingly, 'you're a girl, you can't play in this team' ??

Unfortunately, many people still hold this mentality .....

At Pumas Basketball Club, we are committed to the development of girls' basketball.

We offer a girls' team and the opportunities to play at various levels. We also play mixed teams regularly.

Pumas work closely with the local authority and local schools to provide the opportunity for girls to play basketball.

We also repesent Dacorum Borough in the Hertfordshire Youth Games, finishing this year in a respectable 4th place.

Sessions are open for any girl between the ages of 7 and 17 who wishes to play.

We believe that in order for any programme to be successful, there must be good partnership with schools. This is even more true of girls/ladies basketball. We regularly have coaches within schools. In one week alone, our coaches totalled 98 hours of coaching time. This works out at around 14 hours a day.

Ladies basketball is set to grow. Pumas Basketball Club is committed to developing ladies basketball and give it the coverage and respect it so rightly deserves.

If you are interested in joining a team, finding out more information and/or contributing to the development of ladies' basketball, please contact us by email.
