It's
been a while... |
| |
Yup i'm still here and
I know this looks exactly like the old website. To
be truthful it is but due to University work, time
has been rather short and so at the moment that is
no real date for when it will be completed. As for
news on the empire earth community, on the 3rd of
November 2008 the Won Servers dedicated to Empire
Earth and EE:AOC were permanently shut down so a
very dedicated fanbase called
Save-EE.com has
created their own lobby that automatically lists
Direct Connect (by IP) games hosted by players that
are logged into the lobby. If you are happy with
their service and then feel free to donate some
money to the guys.
As for news on
what's happening with the Empire Earth series, well
at the moment, nothing. I have tried to contact
Activison Blizzard on the future of the Empire Earth
series but have not received any response. Maybe
starting a petition will turn some heads around if
we get enough votes, however this maybe difficult
due to Empire Earth 3's poor reception. If someone can prove me wrong then
I would gladly start it.

Mad
Doc No More |
|
| |
On the 4th of April Mad
Doc Software was taken over and bought out by
Rockstar Games. The company that developed and made
Empire Earth AOC, Empire Earth II and Empire Earth
III, has now changed its name to Rockstar
New England. For the Press Release go to this
link here.
Despite a second
patch for Empire Earth III being mentioned in the
Official forums it now looks very unlikely we will
ever see it. Whether there was a second patch in the
workings is still a question. But our current
concern is, what next?
Sierra
Entertainment and Vivendi, or now
Activision Blizzard own the rights to the Empire
Earth name and whether there will be a 4th game is
currently in their hands. Since Mad Doc is now apart
of the Rockstar empire another developer must rise
to the challenge to make another sequel to the
Empire Earth series. After Empire Earth III, this
maybe more of a blessing than a blow to many fans.
Before the takeover, Mad Doc had released a port of
Bully The Scholarship edition from the PS2 to the
Xbox 360. It received good reviews, however many
players experienced frequent bugs and crashes, the
article is here.
So, at the moment it
is a matter of if there will be another sequel to
Empire Earth, rather then when. Whether Vivendi can
still see the series making profit for them, then it
might be likely the latter. But judging by how
Empire Earth 3 did, they may just finish the series
once and for all. I hope for the fans this wont be
the case.
For now I will try
my best to find out what the future is for the
series of my beloved Empire Earth. My site Empire
Earth Planet has now been around for more than 2
years, going back with the first announcement of the
Art of Supremacy Expansion for Empire Earth 2. Time
does go by rather quickly.
Any information I'll
find on the future of Empire Earth will be posted up
on here, so if you want to keep informed keep
checking the site.

At Gamespot there is a
behind the scenes trailer of Empire Earth III

This is a must see and will get you excited about
the game.
Check it out here
Posted from Empire
Earth Heaven is a comparison from IGN showing the
differences in graphics from the previous Empire
Earth II compared to Empire Earth III.
Check it out and Here is a quote from the
article
"And here's the
proof in the pudding. The 'money shot' if you will.
Holy hell that looks good. As opposed to all the
other units we've featured so far in this spread,
these warships don't have a speck of red or blue on
them, with a far more muted palette, but they look
great. Still a lot like scale models, but when
you're too busy picking your jaw up from the floor
after checking out the water, the forest and the
battlements, you're not going to care. I think that
archer in the castle is going to have a hard time
taking the ships down though. Unless he has arrows
tipped with nuclear warheads. Which he well might"
The Empire Earth Planet
Tournament is under construction and will be up
hopefully when the game is released. More
information on this will available soon. Posted by

Ready
to Conquer the World |
|
| |
After
doing my exams and having a few problems with the
webserver finally an update has arrived and many
more to come.
- Maddoc have
released a cinematric trailer of Empire Earth III
which will be the intro of the game. They a did fantastic
job on this and is a must see. See it Here
or Here
- A video of Empire
Earth III University has been released, showing some
small bits of gameplay and community members playing
the alpha of the game as well as giving some
opinions on it. Click Here
to check it out.
- A closed beta of
Empire Earth III has been released on fileplanet,
however you need a subscription to get a key to play
the actual beta. Keep an eye on the EE3
forums for players giving feedback and more
information on the latest beta.
- Gamespy have
posted a small preview of Empire Earth III at E3.
The preview talks about a few changes that have been
made since the alpha that was played at EEIII
University. It says Maddoc have now added a Tech
Point resource aswell as making a 'hard
population cap to encourage players to think more
about unit mix rather than using overwhelming or
zerg tactics.' Check it out Here
There will be a few
changes and new updates on the Empire Earth Planet
site in the upcoming weeks. There is a EEPLANET
Tournament being setup as well as some Empire Earth
III content that you will be able to download from
the site straight to your mobile phone. Keep
watching here for more information.

Empire
Earth III University |
|
| |
After
a long journey back to England from L.A the
Empire Earth III University experience was finally over.
I cannot say
much currently about what happened until when the NDA is
lifted but afterwards I will be posting my own
preview with information and my opinion on graphics,
gameplay, presentation and more about EE3. I would like to
thank Greg and Vivendi for organising the event as
well as the community members and the two mad doc
designers that attended who were all good to meet
and see in real life. If I can say one thing before I
post my preview, I was very happy with what I had
seen and played.
Update:
EEPlanet
Empire
Earth III Preview has now been released. If you
have any comments or questions please post them here

A
few more sites have now made their own previews of
Empire Earth III. IGN Preview had some interesting
information that has suggested that EE3 is very different
from its predecessors.
'Unlike EE2, EE3 requires that players construct a town hall on a specific point in each territory. Likewise, resource buildings will have to be constructed at certain points to gather resources.'
Seems like they are attempting to make
the economy much more simple and easier to handle
despite this would obviously take away freedoms and strategies
such as the best way to layout your city. However
you may have to now fully conquer a territory or
fully explore it (or most of it) to build a town instead of just building one on the
side and controlling the territory from there.
1up.com
and Actiontrip have also posted previews. Even
though similar each preview tells something a little
different about the game.
'"We're actually giving you the choice to research abilities that create new roles for existing units," Nordhaus says. For instance, research "torch" for your swordsmen and buildings they attack will burn, or try "lunge mine" for your Eastern infantry and they'll take on an antitank role.'
This
feature sounds good and is one the first information on research abilities. Now instead of
spearing a building you could set it alight and burn it
to the ground.
'We added support for normal mapping, ambient occlusion, a brand new particle system, full screen effects and anti-aliasing, much higher texture resolution and more polys, Shader model 3 support and more.'
Seems
like they have spent a fair bit of amount of work on
the graphics engine and too date it looks one the best
looking strategy games out. Overall EE3 is looking
very different from both EE2 and EE1, whether this
is a good a thing or not we will have to wait till
when either the game or a demo is released.
Update:
A Empire Earth 3 Desert Heat Trailer has been posted
showing off game play and some new units. Either
download it at FileFront
or watch it at GameTrailers.

As you
probably already knew with the date being the 1st of
April the EEPLANET sued incident never happened. In
other news there has been two new interviews posted
at 2404.org and Strategy Informer about the upcoming
Empire Earth III. Both talk about some interesting
points and contain some good bit of
information.
Here is quote from
the 2404.org interview explaining more about the new
resource system and how its handled.
'We
do keep the diversity of resource collection with
forests to fish to harvest; they just all end up
into a single raw materials pile. We also provide a
means to generate wealth that doesn’t use the
environment so much as it relies on players to set
up trade routes between their markets, natives, and
other civilizations. Empire Earth 3 moves away from
the micro-management of specific resources to just
two types used in the recipes to create players
empires providing more focus and attention to world
domination.'
You can go read both of the interviews in full at
the Strategy
Informer and 2402.org
website.

New
EEIII Website + Video at Gamespot |
|
| |
The
new Empire Earth III official site is up if you want
to have a look at it go to www.empireearth.com
The
Empire Earth forums have this week been packed with
loads of questions and wishes about the upcoming
EEIII. Gamespot have released an interview
video of the almighty Lead designer
Matthew Nordhaus explaining the features that will
include modding compatibilities and a new world
domination style of play I. Here are a few quotes
that I found interesting from the Gamespot preview.
'Empire
Earth III will feature a fairly detailed espionage
component that will let you send spies into enemy
territory to foment revolts and uprisings.'
'The
game has a cinematic physics system, so buildings
can be shredded apart by explosions and weapons
fire'
'Even
better is that the performance of the game has been
improved thanks to optimization.'
Also
there is a confirmation that Empire Earth III will
use directx9 and will use the latest shaders that
many modern games use today. The game is due to be
on the shelves by the fall of 2007.

Empire
Earth III is upon us |
|
| |
A
Preview has been posted on the new Empire Earth III
from PC Gamer. If you're interested in having look
just go here.
Feel free to post your own opinions of the preview
and screenshots on our forum here.
You can also view the screenshots on the media
page. The announcement comes as a surprise since
many fans including me thought Mad Doc may not
continue with the Empire Earth franchise but im glad to
say I was wrong.
Here
is little piece of the preview from PC Gamer
'While
that's just one of the units, it's a good example of
the change in tone. Empire Earth II, while solid
enough, was a distinctly unglamourous wander through
the choicest parts of humanity's history in an RTS
fashion. Its handful of novel features were dressing
on a very traditional, even staid, core. Thankfully,
Mad Doc have decided a conservative approach is no
longer appropriate. EE3 is actually a little
radical.'
Another
site has also posted 4 new shots of Empire Earth
III, go here
to check them out.
