Judo For Children Aged 5-8

BRING YOUR CHILD ALONG FOR RECREATIONAL JUDO AND JUDO SKILLS

Judo is an Olympic Sport which develops mind and body co-ordination, increases confidence and awareness, improves fitness and flexibility and helps develop a sense of equality and fair play. As members of the British Judo Association, which is the National Governing Body for Judo in Great Britain, we have expert qualified coaches to guide your children through all the basic Judo techniques and skills.

 

The Kano Club

The Kano Club is part of the British Judo Association and when you join the Kano Club you are also joining the British Judo Association. You will receive the excellent Kano Club Pack which includes the following items. A smart Kano Club Membership Card and Record Booklet. A Kano Club Attendance Card. 6 sew on shoulder badges awarded to players for good attendance. A superb coloured poster with space for 12 merit stickers. 12 merit stickers which you can collect each month for demonstrating your judo skills. As a member of the Kano Club your child will be covered by the Association's public liability and personal accident insurance policies.

The Kano Awards

As your child's judo skills improve your coach will be offered the opportunity to take part in the Kano Award Scheme. This is a non-competitive scheme which aims to provide a means of incentive and encouragement for young players and in addition, offers coaches a structure for developing a player's basic judo skills in a progressive manner. There are 9 superb awards to collect, with each award your child will receive a colourful badge and certificate. Taking part in the scheme gives your child

 

Fast Tracking

The skills which players gain during their period in the Kano Award Scheme must be recognized and rewarded. When a player becomes 8 years of age they will progress into the Mon Grading System. Kano Awards will automatically transfer to Mon Grades in the following format, with three Kano Awards equaling one Mon Grade.

1st, 2nd & 3rd Kano Awards together are equal to 1st Mon.

4th, 5th & 6th Kano Awards together are equal to 2nd Mon.

7th, 8th & 9th Kano Awards together are equal to 3rd Mon.

We have 2 Venues at present operating the Kano Club Scheme.

The Ippon Judo Club at the Drill Hall Brook Rd Cheadle Tue and Thur 5.00 to 6.00. Sun 9.30 to 11.00

The Urmston Judo Club at the George H Carnall Centre Urmston. Tue and Wed 6.30 to 7.30..
