Pillar of Prayer

Depicted above the silhouetted town, there is a blanket of blackness, representing the spiritual realm above the town. The blanket of blackness is held there by tethers attached to various people, places, institutions and aspects of the town's spiritual past. There is heaviness about it. Prayer is the only way to pierce the blanket. A pillar of repentant prayer breaks through the black blanket. The dove of peace on top of the gold and silver pillar represents the restoration of peace. Gold and silver also symbolise the quality of the prayer necessary; the heaviness of the pillar the weight of prayer required.
