My husband and I had our first Reiki treatment with Liz in 2003. It was a birthday present and we didn't know what Reiki was as we hadn't even heard of it.
Both of my thumbs were affected by Carpal Tunnel syndrome and I had a ‘trigger finger' on my right hand. I also had a badly damaged knee that I had hurt in a fall some years earlier which meant I could not sit with my leg bent; I always had to keep it straight.
My husband Bill had a bad back and a bad leg which meant he could hardly walk. He also had a large swelling in his lower spine area that was the size of a man's fist which he had for several years. Liz found this straight away even though it was under his shirt and a thick sweatshirt. Liz worked on Bill's back and he decided he would return for another treatment the next morning. He also told me that during his treatment, as he sat, he was rocking backwards and forwards and even though he tried, he could not stop it.
I couldn't believe it but that night Bill and I were rocking and rolling all night to the 60's group in the Cabaret room at the hotel. At the end of the evening I realised I had been sitting with my leg bent and it has been ok ever since.
When Bill went back for his second treatment the next day the swelling on his back had completely gone.
After a few days when we were back at home I realised my hands were free from pain.

Some years ago I experienced a Reiki session and it was not a positive experience, and as the ultimate sceptic, I felt it was not something I could ever believe in.
More recently I injured my back at work and was bent double in absolute agony. For me the worst thing was that I was reliant on a cocktail of strong pain killers and muscle relaxants that made me feel like a zombie.
I met Liz at a time when I would have tried anything and decided to have a healing treatment with her.
The whole experience was different to anything I had experienced before. Throughout the session I felt totally relaxed and with my eyes closed I could see changing colours (not realising at the time the significance of these).
At the end of the session I realised the pain in my back had all but disappeared. Being sceptical I thought at first this was because I had been in a relaxed position for the first time in weeks. At home I was pleased that I didn't need my medication at the allotted time and quite surprised that I slept through that night without any tablets. As the days passed I realised I no longer needed my medication and my GP was happy with that. I was now awake for most of the day and this allowed me to carry out the exercise plan given to me by my physio and GP.
That was five weeks ago and I have only taken one tablet in that time because of pain experienced after an intensive physio session.
Yesterday I returned to Liz as I was having considerable pain in my right shoulder. I didn't mention this to her but almost immediately she identified my problem and set to work. Today, for the first time since March, three months ago, I have been able to raise my right arm to above my head without any pain.
So why does Reiki work? I don't know but I do know Liz has some exceptional gift or power. I was at a point where I needed to be less reliant on medication and to take control of my mind and body again and the healing gave me that.

The first time I met Liz was about three years ago at a British Horse Society county AGM where Caroline and Liz were giving a Reiki presentation.
I was having an uncomfortable time with my back and neck (whiplash and calcareous deposits in the vertebral canal pressing on the blood vessels and nerves) and was wearing a surgical collar at the time and was so stiff that moving was difficult.
I'd never heard of Reiki before but was willing to have a go at anything if it would relieve the discomfort I was in, so I volunteered for Liz to demonstrate on me.
I remember sitting in a chair with my eyes shut and Liz telling me to go with my feelings. I was conscious of her voice throughout and of swaying strongly from side to side (I think it was towards her).
My right arm raised itself towards the ceiling and I had to stand up on tiptoe to follow it (a lady told me afterwards that she seriously thought I was going to levitate). I can't remember what happened next but when I came back from wherever I'd been, I felt totally relaxed and comfortable. More to the point there was no nagging ache in my neck or back and I felt supple. I went home without my collar and, to this day, I have not needed it – it's still in the drawer as a standby.
I had had no control over anything I did, but never once felt uncomfortable or of doing anything I didn't want to; it was as though an external force was gently stretching me apart. For several days afterwards I felt far more aware of my surroundings and slept very well. Doing stretching exercises in a Pilates class a day or so after receiving Reiki I again had the feeling of being pulled by the external force.
I became attuned to level 1 Reiki on the first available course and use Reiki on myself most days which, coupled with Bowen (a recent discovery), I'm sure prevents my back and neck from giving me major problems.
I have given Reiki to a baby rabbit brought in by a cat. The rabbit showed no fear and after treating it I was instinctively drawn to a bush which was hiding its burrow. I've since been attuned to level 2 and that was an even more enlightening weekend.
Reiki is so powerful and I feel I have scratched only the surface.

On Saturday, when I came to see you for the first time, I didn't know what to expect. Until then the pains in my back and down my legs never gave up, they were always there, but as the treatment went on I could feel the pain lifting, bringing a feeling of relief. I had taken a few days off work for the Bank Holiday and enjoyed NO PAIN! I decided to return for another session today (Wednesday) and the sensations I felt through my mind and body, I can't explain. Not just no pain but also a feeling of calm, inside and out, and now I can move on – thank you so much for this,

I had a treatment with Liz when my wife and I stayed at Alvaston Hall.
She worked mainly on my right shoulder and my right hip area. For the remainder of that week my shoulder and hip were more troublesome than usual but settled down soon afterwards.
Several weeks have now passed and my shoulder troubles me only very occasionally. Mainly I play my golf without any problem, during or after play.
The hip is not likely to improve as there is degeneration in the joint. Prior to my treatment I also had experienced some tightness in the thigh area and it was tender to the touch compared to my left thigh. I would have a massage every few weeks for this, and although Liz worked only a little near this area there has been marked improvement.
The hip joint is the same but all of the rest have returned to normal so it's good news all round.

When I visited England in 2006 I went to Liz with lower back problems that I'd had since 1992. Since that visit I no longer have this problem thanks to her treatment and I hope to visit her again because of other problems.

In November 2002 I injured my trapezius muscle so badly that my local hospital advised me it would take 12-16 weeks of a combination of physiotherapy, rest and painkillers for it to heal. As a self-employed holistic therapist this wasn't good news. I went to Cheshire for a few days break and found Liz doing Reiki treatments. At that time I was a Reiki 2 practitioner and knew a treatment would help me.
The treatment was the most amazing one I had experienced. I felt my pulse rate quicken and my breathing changed and the heat coming from Liz was sensational. She did a full body treatment and throughout this I could feel the energy surging round my body. As she touched my left foot the heat travelled, like a fire bolt from a bow-and-arrow, the full length of my body and straight to the right side of the trapezius muscle. For most of the treatment I felt like I was floating on a cloud.
Once the treatment had finished she made sure I was feeling ok, then I sat up and put my jacket on, which was amazing in itself as I had been unable to dress myself for the four days prior to the treatment.
Thanks to Liz I was back working on my return home, no physiotherapy, rest or painkillers required. It was amazing. All my clients noticed a difference in their treatments. I felt so much more comfortable doing treatments than I had before I met her. It was as if she had released the true practitioner I was meant to be.
She sends me healing when I need it and just knowing she is there is a bonus.

From the short demonstration treatment at lunchtime on Tuesday until Thursday I experienced improvement in my hand and after a top-up session, I was able to hold a plate of food at breakfast on Friday, which I was unable to do before the treatments.
It continued to improve so that I was able to hold a potato in my hand whilst I peeled it and other abilities returned such as being able to turn taps.
I sincerely thank Liz for the amazing aid in returning the use of my hand.

I sat on the treatment couch with my legs resting over the side and my back to Liz.
Liz stood behind me and suggested I close my eyes, as I would be more aware of any sensations. She asked me to share with everyone watching if I became aware of anything.

My posture was at first slumped forward, but then, without any intention, I found myself straightening up and stretching up.

I have been receiving Reiki treatments from Liz for over two years. Sometimes I have a treatment once or twice a month, sometimes not for many months, simply when it feels right to see her. I suffer from a serious neurological condition and following major brain surgery was left taking an enormous amount of medication.

In 2001 I fell down stairs and badly damaged my left ankle, which had to be repaired surgically with metal plates, pins and screws. This left me with a leg that I could not bear to touch.
In 2006 my husband and I went to Alvaston Hall where I had a Reiki healing treatment with Liz. I could not believe the difference that she made. I was able to rub my hands up and down my leg and over my ankle without any pain or discomfort, a miracle as far as I was concerned. During the treatment I was only conscious of either ripples or swathes of gentle movements through my body with occasional ‘tweaks’ that made a slight shock sensation in my knee.
It is now January 2008 and once again I have had a healing session with Liz. This time I had strained my left hip and it was putting a strain on my back too. I was walking with a stick and not very far, so I went back to Alvaston to see Liz.
It was an amazing session. Ripples and swathes of sensations again moved through my body. I was also moving backwards and sideways, and my left leg bent at the knee, all quite involuntarily. I was not consciously in control of these movements and ‘tweaks’ of electrical-type shocks also affected my knee and ankle. I was also aware of a strong string of tension from the arch to the end of my big toe on my left foot.
I am now walking without my stick and on the Wednesday, after my treatment, I walked about three quarters of a mile over undulating, slippy and muddy track around a farm.
It is now Saturday and I still don’t need my stick.
So once again, my heart-felt thanks to Liz.

While on holiday at Alvaston Hall in December 2007 I was a volunteer in Liz’s Reiki demonstration. During the treatment I felt totally relaxed, even though my body seemed to be made of rubber at times.
One amazing achievement was that Liz straightened my spine which had always had a slight curvature. Doctors and practitioners throughout my life had said this was something that was impossible to put right, but my husband watched it straightening as Liz gave me the treatment.
This led to much easier breathing as it opened up my chest area so that my lungs could fill - a remarkable achievement.
Since returning home I have noticed that my knees are much stronger. Prior to meeting Liz I was unable to climb stairs without pain and cracking. Now I can climb flights of stairs with no problem and, because I am breathing much better, I can climb further without losing my breath.

I have suffered with back problems for a number of years following a fall. Sometimes the pain becomes unbearable. I had years of cortisone treatments at Hope Hospital to treat it but suffered a lot from side effects. I have received healing from Liz on a number of occasions and I not only experience a physical improvement in my back, I also feel a lot better emotionally.

One summer, several years ago whilst I was attending Oxford University, I contracted a viral infection which caused extreme redness and itchiness in my eyes.
The doctors at the Moorefield’s Eye Hospital in London told me it was a particularly bad case of bi-lateral viral conjunctivitis and would last about two weeks. They also said there was little they could do apart from let it run its course and prescribe some drops to help alleviate the itching. I could not see clearly and was unable to complete any work. The drops they gave were painful and did not bring much relief.
I decided to spend some time at home with my parents and whilst there I contacted Liz to arrange a healing session with her as I had seen her previously and thought she might be able to help.
My appointment was at 2.00 on a Friday afternoon and as Liz placed her hands about six inches above my eyes we were both aware of a very strong energy in that area. I experienced it as if something was being pulled from my eyes but it wasn’t uncomfortable. After a few minutes I realised the itching had stopped and a short while after that Liz moved away from my eyes and went into the rest of the treatment.
Looking in the mirror at the end of the treatment, I was surprised to see that my eyes had started to clear and were less red. My father had been waiting for me and he also commented on this. The redness continued to reduce, becoming pink then steadily clearer.
By 6.00 pm the next day my eyes were improved to the degree that they looked almost normal. I was even able to apply eye make-up to go out for the evening and head back to Oxford on the Sunday completely healed.

I had been looking forward to my Reiki session with Liz as I understood, from a friend, that she was very good.
