Market Place Antiques was established in 1999 by Peter Gardner, the current proprietor. A passion for antiques, particularly fireplaces, and a love of the Lake District led to the idea for, and location of, the business.

The shop itself is situated in a Georgian townhouse in the historic Market Place area of Cockermouth to the north of the Lake District. The premises were completely renovated from the shell of a former clothes shop that had stood empty for over 30 years. Sadly, no pictures were taken so we can't show you how bad it really was!

The business, along with many locally, continues to recover from the effects of last year. We are looking forward to a better 2002!
