Batch Processing

A new script has been added called "Mikes Framer Batch".

Set up a config and save it using the Batch button.

Remember that if you tick the Use Saved Colours box, that all your files will be processed using the fg/bg colours that photoshop was set to when you saved the config. If you leave the box unticked, your files will be processed using whatever colours you set photoshop to before running the batch process.

Set up an action that calls "Mikes Framer Batch" and does any saving you require.

Create a new Action

Name it something appropriate then click Record

Once recording >File >Scripts >Mikes FramerBatch.

This will run the batch script once, framing and matting as per your config.

You now need to perform a save operation.

Save for Web is used in this example.

Just click and save as you would usually.

Finally stop the action recording.

Photoshop CS

Open the file browser in CS.

Select the photos you want to process.

Select Batch from the Automate menu Automate>Batch

In the Play section of the Batch window select the Set and Action that leads to your saved action.

In the Source section select File Browser from the drop down menu and tick Supress File open Option Dialogs.

In the Destination section select Folder from the drop down menu and Choose a location for your saved files. Tick Override Action "Save As" Commands. Set up File Naming as you require.

Click OK and if all is well Photoshop will plod through the images and save the processed files.

Photoshop CS2

Due to a problem with the Bridge not liking to run certain actions that contain scripts through the batch process,(documented on the Adobe forums), you will need to set up a "Droplet". In Photoshop go to File>Automate>Create Droplet.

The window is very similar to that described in the Photoshop CS instructions, the main difference is that you choose where to save the droplet. Choose to save it on your desktop and it will be easier to drop files onto.

In the Play section of the Droplet window select the Set and Action that leads to your saved action.

In the Destination section select Folder from the drop down menu and Choose a location for your saved files. Tick Override Action "Save As" Commands. Set up File Naming as you require.

Once you have set it up and pressed OK it will be saved.

Now all you need to do is open the bridge, select the photo's and drag them onto your newly created Droplet. If CS2 is not opened, it will be automatically and the file processed.

With both CS and CS2 you can, if you prefer, set up a batch job that processes all the images in a chosen folder rather than selected one on the browser/bridge.
