Loading the Styles
Once you have installed the files in the correct places (instructions in zip with files) you need to make them accessable by Photoshop.

Click on the Edit menu then select "Preset Manager" (image on left)

This will open the window shown below.

1) Click here and select Styles.

2) Click to open a filer window for the styles files. Select "Mikes Framer.asl" and click on Load.

3)Click here to finish.

You have now loaded the correct styles for the actions.

Loading the Actions
You now need to load the actions into the action palette to be able to use them.

Click on the flyout arrow where indicated (left image) and click each of the actions to bring them into your palette.

Once done it should look something like the image below.

Using the actions
At the moment there are four matte styles to choose from. If I add more later, I will send out updates.
  • Drop Shadow
  • Bevelled
  • Overlay
  • Stroke

Each matte style has three action sets (Overlay has two)

I'll use Drop Shadow as an example.

Mikes Drop Shadow:

For web use on pictures 800 pixels or less.

Before running any actions, resize your image and flatten to a single layer first.

This set adds a 25 pixel matte and 20 pixel frame. (14 for Palette Color)

This set has actions for various frame styles to go with the matte.

For Palette Colors, before you run the action, set your foreground color to the frame color you require, and your background color to the matte color you require.

For the others you need only set your background color to the matte color you require.

Then run the action.
Mikes Drop Shadow Extra:

Same as Mikes Drop Shadow, but adds an extra 25 pixels to the bottom matte so you can add titles etc.
Mikes Drop Shadow Adj:

This set of actions stops in various places for your input.

You can choose the size of your matte, the size of your frame and if you want to extend the matte bottom.

Just follow instructions as they come up.

There are no adjustable frame sizes for Gold and Chrome as these were designed to work at a specific size only.
