Basic Rules for The Felixstowe Pool League

Basic Rules for The Felixstowe Pool League

1. The matches will be played on Sunday evenings. The start time is to be 8.00 p.m.

2a. Match format will be arranged as 12 games of singles
2b. After rule 8 (all names are entered), a coin is tossed to decide the break for frame 1, then the break alternates down the order to frame 12.
2b. A player is allowed to play a maximum of 2 frames
2c. If a player plays 2 frames, he must play an odd and an even game. (To allow a fair chance of a break)

3. There are two trophies played for in each division.

4. The league points system will be one point per frame and NO points for winning the match. The team that wins the division will have the most points. If two or more teams tie for first place then the team that has won the most wins will be deemed the winner, otherwise a playoff will be held.

5. Substitutions are allowed up to the commencement of frame 5. All changes to playing order will be down to the discretion of the captains.

6. Each player must only be registered for one team in the league. He/she must not play for another team unless a transfer has taken place, this will cost £5 and must be paid for as specified in rule 15 of the constitution.

7. The winning team should insure that the result card is delivered to the home of the results secretary by 7.00 p.m. on the Tuesday following the match.

8. When filling in the score card, both captains must right down their team playing order separately and then jointly fill in the score card legibly and in capitals. Entered names on the score card may only be re-arranged on agreement of both captains. Both captains (or nominee’s) will sign the card at the end of the match.

9. Any mid-season transfers must be put on the back of the card and paid for in accordance with rule 15 of the constitution to enable the player to play the following Sunday.

10. Referees should be registered players nominated by the captains on match nights. Home teams will referee even numbered frames and away teams will referee odd numbered frames.

11. Control of the frame is completely in the hands of the referee. The only exception to this rule is if the referee can be proven wrong by consulting the rules during the frame. A player has the option to request an alternative referee before the commencement of the frame.

12. A player may only play for one team in the same Team Knockout Competition.

13. The league will supply a maximum of nine trophies to each winning team for league competitions. Any further requirements must be paid for by the individual team.

14. At the end of the league season the player with the highest number of league wins will take the perpetual ‘player of the year’ trophy. In the event of a draw the player in the highest division will win. If there is a draw within a division the there will be a playoff (best of 3). If there is a dissimilar number of matches played by separate divisions (e.g. div. 1 play 22 matches, div. 2 play 20 matches) then the winner will be decided by the officers. There will be a personal ‘player of the year’ trophy for each division. There will be one ladies ‘player of the year’ trophy.

15. There will be a medal for each player who completes one or more ‘8 ball clearances’ in the league (not competitions). An ‘8 ball clearance’ is defined as if from the break a player legally clears all his/her own 7 balls plus the black ball in one visit. The opposing captaining must acknowledge this by signing the back of the score card.

16. Each team will supply a suitable raffle prize for use at the annual presentation night.

17. All league games must be played by the last scheduled match of the season. Postponed league matches must be played by this time.
