Hello and welcome to POKER IN DERBY ON A SUNDAY WITH FRIENDS! Every Sunday, for the last two and a half years, a hotly contested game of poker has been played amongst a few friends in Derby. This website is dedicated to giving the latest statistics and shenanigans that have happened as a result of these regular gatherings of crazy folk. It won't make sense to a lot of people apart from those poker players involved, but if you like your poker and you like looking at lots of numbers then I'm sure you'll find something to please you here. At the moment you can view the latest career statistics and the current standings in the 2008 (Jan - June) season, as well as the final standings in the 2005, 2006 and 2007 seasons. You can also see a few photos of some of the tense action. |
COYOTE MILD HAS ONE HAND ON THE LEAGUE TROPHY!!!! |
![]() |
I apologise for the first update in over 2 months. The main reasons have been laziness, Barcelona, pub quizzes, games of chess, and my Aunties surprise 60th birthday celebrations. Only 5 weeks of the current season left and the status is much in the quo area from where I last left you. Coyote Mild still has a commanding lead, despite a superb run of form from the Shuffle, and is strong favourite to raise the coveted PDSF trophy come the end of June. Last game (25/05/08) An earlier start of 6.30pm, the Mistake was a late replacement for the Old Lady who had other matters to attend to. Jimmy White played despite a shoulder/elbow injury, sustained through a calamitous three way pile up on the stairs the previous drunken night. Mistake was first to fall. His unfortunate Aces coming up against Jimmys two pairs. Jarhead nearly fell soon after but hit a lucky full house on the river after Jimmy again had the upper hand. However his joy was short-lived as he was to fall a little later in 7th place anyway. Wicker Man followed his defeat in five-a-side with a disappointing 6th place. At this point Goose foolishly knocked wine all over the prestine cloth of the poker table. Everyone was in shock. But Jarhead rescued it with an expert display of tea towel rubbing. The sugar came out in no time. Advert was clearly ruffled by this and fell to Coyotes Ace-King combo soon after. God then had his way and made sure the cocky Shuffle ended his run of great form with a disappointing 4th position. Goose was next to leave the table in 3rd. Jimmy White heroically played through her injury pain to a creditable second thus giving Coyote his 7h win of the season. Surely no one can stop this boy now!! |

POKER PLAYERS PLEASE NOTE! - At the end of the current season there will be a one-off knockout cup competition. The provisional date will be the first Sunday in July, i.e. the 6th, so keep this date free in you diaries. A tournament extravaganza will take place, players drawn randomly against each other in heads-up match-ups with the winners going through to the next round. The eventual winner will win an as yet undecided cup trophy - I'll try and get one between now and then. |
