ITS AIMS

The technology used at Mansfield Police Station for the circulation of Neighbourhood Watch information has spare capacity.

This capacity will be used to inform Business Watch of crime that is relevant to their business.

The idea behind BUSINESS WATCH is threefold:-  

 1    To quickly identify stolen or lost credit / debit cards & cheque books & to circulate details of businesses at which they may be fraudently used.

2     To circulate details of forged Bank of England notes to businesses in Mansfield District

3    To circulate details of criminal activities targeting local businesses  

The sources of information are:- POLICE, FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS, LOCAL BUSINESSES

 The Ringmaster software used on a dedicated computer is capable of transmitting 160 messages per hour by telephone, fax, or email depending on the requirement of the particular business. To provide adequate Data Protection Safeguards information will only be shared by participating members who will be required to be registered at an annual fee of £15. Businesses are well aware of the effect of fraud , theft, & forgeries on their profitability. Whereas larger businesses have systems in place to minimise the impact of crime, smaller businesses would welcome the information supplied by Business Watch to help them keep ahead of criminals.

As in many other areas of life, knowledge is an indispensable part of any defence strategy.
