List of work is impressive for an arm chair engineer like myself. Tasks include:
Fitting pump to saddle tank. Clever use of bulk head union to fit pump and supply water. Not very much room for a drill so holes at an angle. Water leaked out easily so had to seal with tyre sealant and rubber washer.
Pipe run to supply steam by drilling and tapping new valve into manifold. Help received from Keith up the road, it looks twice as good with another fitting.
Run water pipe to back of fire box and insert new check valve where fitting is left for an optional injector. Strange that pump has two delivery pipes as it makes the pipework much more complicated.
Valve installed to allow pump to start on no load ie run delivery to drain. Wrong size nipples at present so using whistle pipe until new nipples arrive.
Valve installed to restrict flow to boiler. Looks impressive to have more valves in the cab.
Pin felll out of reverser during last run so refixed with loctite seal and fix. Had to remove hand pump and bracket for reverser. Reversed reverser to make it easy to fit split pin - I think alignment is OK. Hand pump impossible to take out as unions are inside side bunker and cannot remove other end from saddle tank at present as the small bolts are siezed solid. So raised up pump, bent feed pipe so that it now leaks and needs repairing.
Hand pump was not working well and on inspection the ball holder on suction had no slots in it so the water could not get into ram. Slots / holes drilled out so works well in sink.
Regulator was very hard to turn, found that having put valve back in manifold it was interferring with screew thread. Thread on valve too long, so shortened and cleaned up regulator thread.
Pump fitted but needing testing.
