Charles Dominique Derbes was 21 in 1789, son of Jacques Derbes and of Jeanne Seguin (died 1791); Charles took over the succession of his father at the head of the family hardware store. Jacques remarried Marguerite Revertegat in 1792, daughter of Charles Revertegat and of Madeleine Vidal, of whom there were 3 children who died young; and a daughter Claire Madeleine who married Jules Laurent Lefebre in 1816, lieutenant of Customs, aged 37 years.
