A correspondent wrote: In A History of West Hill Hospital there is
a map of Estates belonging to Parish of Dartford, date 1826, it shows Waterside.
Today this is called Hythe St. Further along Waterside, is shown 'Mr Halls
Factory' which later became J & E Halls and until twenty years ago employed
several hundred workers. It has since shrunk to a just a handful. I
vaguely recall cottages and a very attractive building which I was told had been
a public house many years previous. This was part of Halls offices.
Waterside is a street along side the river Darent. Halls Row is probably
long since gone and would have been near the station close to J&E Hall's
engineering works.
