Northern Tribune, Gouverneur, 8 August 1928: Moses Pete of Sterlingville stopped here Sunday on his way to Cornwall, Ont., where he will pass a few days with other brothers and sisters, celebrating the return of a brother, Emery, long supposed dead. Mr. Pete is one of a large family and the brother Emery had not been seen until Sunday by Moses Pete since the former was nine years old. Both are middle aged now and recognition was impossible, but was an event for the Sterlngville farmer, whose son resides here and bears the name of Emery Pete, being named for the uncle. Mr. Pete is 64. The interval since he saw his brother is 55 years.
Gouverneur Free Press, Friday, 10 August 1928: Visits Brother Believed Dead – Moses Pete, Brother of Emery Pete of Gouverneur, Hadn’t Seen Him in 55 Years – Moses Pete of Sterlingville, father of Emery Pete of this village, passed through Gouverneur on Sunday en route to Cornwall, Ont., where he was summoned to see a brother, Emery Pete, whom he has not seen in 55 years nor from whom he had heard in more than 25 years. Mr. Pete had believed his brother dead. Members of his family had not been in communication with him in more than a quarter century and long ago it had been accepted fact that Mr. Pete was dead. On Saturday Moses Pete received a telephone call from his brother, Emery, at Cornwall, asking him to visit him and he immediately made arrangements for his departure. He is expected to stop in Gouverneur on Tuesday or Wednesday to visit his son, Emery Pete, of this village.

Emery A. Pete: Tribune Press, Gouverneur, Wednesday, 9 August 1939: Funeral services are to be held Friday morning for Emery A. Pete, Gouverneur restaurant proprietor who died suddenly yesterday morning of a heart attack. A solemn high mass is to be celebrated at 10 o'clock in St. James Church by Rev. William E. Capron, assistant pastor. Mr. Pete, 43, was stricken yesterday morning at 8:30 o’clock shortly after he entered his restaurant. He failed to regain consciousness after the attack and died within half an hour. Last rites of the Catholic church were administered by Father Capron. During the past three years he had suffered a number of minor heart attacks. Last week he suffered an attack in his restaurant, and at 7 a.m. yesterday morning he had an attack at his home on Clinton street. Mr. Pete was known in the Gouverneur area for his activity as a chef at various community affairs and as a member of the Gouverneur Fire Department. He was a former foreman of Hook and Ladder company No. 2, and often had charge of the fire department’s midnight supper at annual firemen’s balls. He also was a member of the Gouverneur Rod & Gun Club. Mr. Pete was born June 6, 1896 in Natural Dam, the son of Moses and Olivine Labelle Pete. He started work as chef in the former Kentfield restaurant here as a young man. Later he worked in the Goodison and Todd restaurant. After this firm sold out to Frank Moore, Mr. Pete was employed as chef in the Moore restaurant on East Mani street for twelve years. He then went into business for himself and had operated Emery’s Lunch for the past three years. On July 14, 1917, he married Miss Eva McCarthy of Gouverneur, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Douglas and Donald Pete of Gouverneur; four brothers, Mose Pete of Alexandria Bay, Tenos Pete of Redwood, Jeddie Pete of Watertown, and Leo Pete of Carthage; and four sisters, Mrs. Carl Hart, Mrs. Garfield Beckstead, and Mrs. Arthur Perie of Gouverneur, and Mrs. Arthur Allen of Rossie.
Rosana Pete: Tribune Press, Gouverneur, 21 May 1980: Mrs. Rose A. Hart, 81, Cambray Court, widow of Carl Hart, died Sunday, afternoon, May 18 in Edward John Noble Hospital where she had been admitted Monday. The funeral will be today, Wednesday, May 21, at 10 a.m. in St. James Church. Burial will be in New St. James Cemetery. The Burr - Green Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Edgar (Margaret) Fowler, Oxbow, Mrs. Carmen (Frances) Wells, RD 4, and Mrs. Cecil (Catherine) Alguire, Brasie Corners; a brother, Leo Pete, Theresa, a sister, Mrs. Garfield (Delia) Beckstead, Gouverneur, 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She was born at Natural Dam, Aug. 2, 1898, daughter of Moses and Olivine LaBelle Pitre, and attended schools at Spragueville and Antwerp. She was married to Carl Hart, Nov. 20, 1920 in St. Mary's Church, Evans Mills. Mr. Hart, a former state highway department employee, died Dec. 8, 1961. Mrs. Hart was a member of St. James Church.
Delia Pitre: Tribune Press Gouverneur, 8 February 1981: GOUVERNEUR - The funeral for Mrs. Delia Beckstead, 83, was held Thursday in St. James Church with Rev. Geraid H. Service pastor, officiating. Spring burial will be in New St. James Cemetery. Mrs. Beckstead, formerly of 20 Gordon St., widow of William G. Beckstead. Died Tuesday Jan. 31, 1984 in the A. Barton Hepburn Extended Care Facility Ogdensburg, where she had been a patient since April 25 1981. Sprague Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Gouverneur Rescue Squad. Surviving are two daughters Mrs. Richard (Arlene) Robbins. Gouverneur and Mrs. Richard (Joyce) Shampine, Antwerp; two sons, Paul, Gouverneur and Walter, Philadelphia, 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was born at Natural Dam Oct. 1, 1900, daughter of Mose and LaBelle Olivine Pitre, and was married to William G. Beckstead at Evans Mills, Oct. 12, 1922. The couple lived on farms at Macomb, Richville and Oxbow until moving to the village in 1937. Mr. Beckstead, a former mechanic for Seaker - Graves Motor Co., died Nov. 6, 1968. She was a communicant of St. James Church and a former member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Elmire 'Edmere' Pitre: Tribune Press, Gouverneur, 24 February 1965: The funeral for Mrs. Edmere L. Allen, 60, Rossie, who died Monday at Mid Island hospital, Farmingdale, L. I, where she had been a patient about a month, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's church, Rossie, with Daniel Keefe, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's cemetery, Rossie. Friends may call at the Sprague funeral home this afternoon and evening (Wednesday) and Thursday afternoon and evening. Surviving are three sons, Gerald, Rossie, William and Robert both of Farmingdale; two sisters, Mrs. Garfield (Adelia) Beckstead and Mrs. Carl (Rose) Hart, both of Gouverneur, one brother, Leo Pete, Syracuse, and six grandchildren. Mrs. Allen was born at Sterlingville, Nov. 5, 1904, a daughter of Mose and Alvine LaBell Pete. She attended school in Sterlingville. She was married to Arthur E. Allen at Evans Mills Nov. 8, 1922, with Rev. J. H. Migneron officiating. The couple operated farms in the Sterlingville area and moved to Rossie in 1931, where they rented camps and boats on Black Lake. Mrs. Allen was an ardent fisherman. Mr. Allen died Jan. 18, 1964 in Florida. Mrs. Allen was a communicant of St. Patrick's church, Rossie.
