Obituary:

Massena Observer, Thursday, 7 November 1929:  Ill only a few days with a cold that developed into pneumonia, Henry Edward LaShomb, 67 years old, died at his home on Grove street about midnight Wednesday of last week.  Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart church at 10:00 o’clock Saturday morning and burial was made in Calvary cemetery.  Mr. LaShomb was born in the town of Brasher, a son of Edward and Mary Lacomb LaShomb.  He has always lived in this vicinity.  He married Miss Ida Demo, of this village, on September 13, 1862, she dying eight years ago.  About seven years ago, he married Delia Hurteau, of Cornwall, Ont., and she died a year later.  Surviving are the one daughter, Mrs. George McEwan, 10 East Orvis street; one brother, Michael LaShomb, of this town, and two sisters, Mrs. Prosper Compo, Brasher Falls, and Mrs. Maria Raymo, Liverpool.  Mr. LaShomb was a stone mason by trade.

 

Obituaries for the children:

William Lashomb:  Massena Observer, Thursday, 12 June 1924:  William J. Lashomb died Monday morning at 2:00 o’clock in the Hepburn hospital, Ogdensburg, where he had been a patient for several weeks, aged 36 years, seven months and 23 days.  Death followed a series of operations.  He was born in Massena, November 16, 1887, son of Henry and Ida Demo Lashomb, all his life being spent here.  During the World war he served for 15 months at Camp Devens, Mass.  His marriage to Miss Grace Empey, of Chase Mills, took place at Louisville, June 30, 1906.  She died eight years ago.  Surviving are three children, May, 14, Albert, 12, and Dorothy 10; his father, Henry Lashomb; and one sister, Mrs. George McEwan, all of Massena.  The body was taken to the home of his sister, 83 Main street, from where funeral services were held at 9:00 o’clock Wednesday morning and a half hour later from Sacred Heart church.  Arrangements were in charge of the Massena Post of the American Legion, which furnished an escort from the house to the church and from the church to Calvary cemetery, where burial was made.  The bearers were members of the Legion.
