Nelson J. Peete: Malone Farmer, Wednesday, 26 September 1923: Owls Head: Sudden Death of Nelson Peete: Sept. 24 – This community was shocked to learn of the death of Nelson Peete Friday afternoon. Mr. Peete was going for his horses in the pasture and was afterwards found dead the result of heart disease. He was a highly respected neighbor and a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all. He was a member of St. Joseph’s church of this place. Mr. Peete was born in Hopkinton but had resided here many years, where he had followed farming. He had been employed the past summer as section foreman on the Oval Wood Dish Co.’s railroad at Tupper Lake but came home recently to dig his potatoes. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Theodore and Frank, of Lake Clear; three daughters, Mrs. Genevieve Raymond, of Saranac Lake, Mrs. Effie Minnie of Lake Clear and Miss Florence Peets, of Saranac Lake; three brothers, William and Henry of Hopkinton, Edward, of Potsdam, and one sister, Mrs. Melinda Currier, of Hopkinton. The funeral services were held at Chasm Falls at St. Helen’s church Sunday at ten o’clock.
Melinda Peete: Potsdam Courier & Freeman 1937: DEATH CLAIMS MRS. MALINDA PEET COURIER Hopkinton, Jan. 13. — Mrs. Malinda Peet Courier, 69, died at the home of her nephew, Clayton Dupree, here, Sunday, January 3, after an illness of three days. The cause of death was high blood pressure. She was taken ill New Year's day at the home of her brother, William Peet, on the Harold Webb farm where she was spending the holiday. She was removed to her home where she was attended by Dr. Fingar. She had been in failing health for several years. She was born in Hopkinton May 12, 1868, the daughter of Charles and Mary Peet. About 40 years ago she married Gilbert Courier. To them were born three sons, Pliny of Kansas City, Mo., Floyd and Willis of Saranac Lake. Mr. Courier disappeared about 25 years ago and has not since been heard from. Besides her three sons she is survived by two brothers, Edward Peet of Carthage and William of this place, also by nephews. Services were held Tuesday by Rev. Father Trudell at Holy Cross church of which she was a member. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery here.
