Congratulations on your predicted marks! I too think you have quite an eye for a picture. However, with your photo on the left, I'm not quite sure whether your main subject was the boys or the river, and the white border running right through the picture isn't too attractive. So on the right I've tried concentrating on the boys. A lower camera position might have provided a clearer view of the boy in the foreground.

Your London Eye picture on the left is certainly effective, but on the right I've tried moving in closer so that the top of the Eye is at one of the intersections of thirds, and I've also gone for a more brilliant sky. This seems to me to strengthen the picture's appeal.

Your photo on the left offers another pleasing pattern, but it's a pity that the top of the column on the left of it seems slightly to lean to the left. I like it even more, though, when the black area on the right is reduced, as in my version on the right. It's another really interesting photo. Reply from Gautam Narang: "thank you!, The first image, is of me, it's a multpuly image, the second one, i was playing round with, with the sky, with an overlay layer the third one, i'll keep as a knote next time, the photo optuinty comes back, A million thankz." I'd wondered whether the first picture was a multiple image, but couldn't really see the figures clearly enough to be sure! "this picture was taken in Kentucky. it was my first landscape picture. I took it to work and everyone loved it. I just wanted to know what you saw in it and if I could make it better. thank you for your time." (Ellen Armstrong)

I think your photo on the left is very attractive, but there is some curved object intruding on the left of it. Remove this, as in my version on the right, and you've got a really pleasing picture. I like the way you've used the tree as foreground framing, and also how the water leads us into the scene. Congratulations! "I took this over the skies of Malaga as the sun was just going down.Tried to focus on both dark and light and block out surrounding features such as trees. The most important view was to capture the colour and the cloud formation.Thirty seconds later this whole scene had changed and the photo came out very dark, thirty seconds earlier it was very light I feel I caught a good moment. I am starting out at the moment and would love to learn more. I would love to work in the business, but I don't know if freelance is the way to go.With no formal training how difficult is it to work for example for a newspaper or magazine? Do they pay for pix that they use and whats it like. I would be happy to travel off my own back if I thought that It would be worth while. What do you feel. Any tips will be very gratefully received. Best wishes." (Simon Ellison)

Your photo on the left has some attractive coloring, but its middle section looks less interesting than the rest of it. Sunsets are easy to photograph but often need foreground silhouettes or reflections to make them really impressive (see my sunsets page). In my version on the right, I've rearranged some of the elements in your photo so as to draw more attention to the silhouetted tree and to emphasise the contrast between dark and light. I've also got rid of the rather awkward panorama type framing, and removed the white dot that was just over halfway across the very top of the picture. For information about selling photos, I'd recommend the Photos that Sell book that I mention at the foot of my More Books page.
