| These are an attractive set of photos. The black background makes the baby stand out really clearly. |

| Perhaps there's a little too much black background in your photo, top left. In my version on the top right, I've reduced it, so lessening the feeling that its about to engulf the baby! It's just a little awkward having to turn your head sideways so as to see the baby's face, so on the left I've tried rotating the image. I think the result is quite appealing. |

| This is my favourite of your pictures. It's imaginative and revealing. It's rather nice to get away from the black background too! Very nicely observed. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||

"The attached photo is of my daughter Charlotte, aged 5 Months. I used a Nikon Coolpix 950 and the desaturation of the background was done using Photoshop 6. Let me know what you think." (R Slater) |

| I think your photo on the left is very successful. However, it might have been even better if it had been possible to leave more space for her to look into, as I have tried to suggest on the right. A really attractive photo. Reply from R Slater: "Thank you very much for the inclusion of my photo on your site and I value your comments which I found constructive and enlightening. I am hoping to enter the photo in a local competition and will let you know. I look forward to sending further photos, when time permits. All the best." I would appreciate if you could comment on the attached photos. The first two were taken in Venice in july this year and attempt to capture the wonderful light which is a feature of that city. The third photo is of a small chapel in the mountains near Montserrrat in Spain (no particular purpose!!). The last photo was taken inthe mountains near Montserrat and the contrast of the tiny bright coloured flower and the rugged landscape appealed to me. The pictures were taken with a Minolta Vectis APS camera and perhaps lack the sharpness of 35mm. However, the portability of the camera is a big plus for me. None of the pictures have been enhanced or cropped. Your comments would be greatly appreciated." (Ian Pearson, Edinburgh) |

| You've captured the pearly quality of the light very well, and I like the way the line of moorings on the left and the shoreline on the right lead up to the church in the background. The horizon may be a bit near the middle of the picture, but the total effect is very pleasing. |

| The shape of your photo on the left doesn't seem to fit the shape of your subject (it's often surprisingly difficult to make good use of the panoramic setting on an APS camera even when used in the easier horizontal position!). On the right, I've moved in closer, and find this more dramatic. Once again, the lighting is really attractive. |

| In your photo on the left, there seems a tilt to the right. I've compensated for this in my version on the right. Otherwise, it's a perfectly pleasing picture, assuming that it's a subject that you really want a picture of! |

| An impressive scene. The contrast between the flower and the landscape shows up better on a larger print, but, if this what interested you most, I'd be inclined to come in closer to the flower so that we can see it more clearly. But even as it is, it is a very effective photo. Reply from Ian Pearson: "Thanks very much for taking the time to review my pictures. I can't argue with your comments, I'll bear the points in mind." |
