with comments from Philip Grosset "Congratulations on your web site. Very informative and useful indeed. If it is not much of a husle, i would love your comments on the following images. They where all taken during my recent trip to Norway, using a Canon EOS-300 with 28-80 Zoom Lens. Best regards. (Kosmas Papagiannis) |

| The pale lighting makes this quite an attractive picture but it's a pity nothing seems really sharp. Even with a misty scene, it's often a good idea to have some foreground object that's really sharp as this helps bring out the contrast. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I like your bold portrait on the left, but, as the background on the right of your subject isn't all that interesting, I'd be inclined to concentrate on the person, using a vertical format, as in my version on the right. This makes a good picture. |

| The empty sky in your picture on the left isn't very exciting, and the mountain nearly cuts the scene in half, so, on the right, I've tried removing most of the sky. |

| Did you really want the spire to be so distorted in your photo on the left? This is what happens if you use a wide angle setting and tilt up. If you'd been able to take the same scene from further away with more of a telephoto setting, you might have ended up with something like my version on the right. Of course, for all I know, you could have decided to deliberately distort the spire just to make it look more impressive! It all depends on the effect you want to produce. Reply from Kosmas Papagiannis: "Thank you for your time. I find your comments to be right to the point; a great help indeed." "My name is Frans Limas;from Perth - Australia;I have been retired and starting photography as a hobby since two years ago. First I used Canon EOS 500 but since last year I started using a digital camera and I find it interesting, because you get the photos instantly and more efficient than the conventional ones. At present I'm focusing on flowers mostly from the garden of my wife;and here are two Camellias from our garden and two Tulip from Araluen Botanical Garden near Perth where I live. Your critics are appreciated. All the best." ( Frans LImas) |

| Your flower pictures, such as the one on the left here, are bright and colorful. With this camellia, though, I'd try moving in even closer, as I've done on the right. I'm not at all sure about your white border. I suspect it distracts a bit from the picture. |

It's surprisingly easy to take dramatic flower pictures with digital cameras, but I wonder how many other camera angles you tried before settling on this one. It's looks just a bit ordinary, and I'm left wondering if there was a more revealing angle that looked right down into the flower. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The sunshine adds sparkle to your photo on the left. I think this is fine as it is, but just by way of an experient, I tried moving in even closer on the right. Any improvement here may be caused largely by the removal of your distracting white frame! |

| I think this is your most successful photo. I really like your use of a bold close-up with the contrasting colors in the deliberately out of focus background. A fine photograph. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Reply from Frans Limas: "Thank you so much for your useful feedback; now I realize that framing is distracting the picture, so I better not to apply on my photos unless just for "fun"? And secondly what I learned from your critics is that "focus" is a must to get a good photography." Go on to YOUR PHOTOS (110) |
