Flowers
APRIL 2005: the municipal flower bed between Ramsey Road and The Waits.

MAY 2005: the General Election on May 5th. Huntingdon has for long been one of the safest Conservative seats in the country - which explains why, in the absence of a proportional representation voting system, I'm sorry to say that votes for anyone else never get anywhere!
JUNE 2005: just as Cambridge University holds its May Week in June, this June photo was actually taken in May. It shows a wedding carriage being driven along Merryland - quite an unusual sight.
Cygnets notice
JULY 2005: last month's notice outside the Norris Museum.
Ducks
AUGUST 2005: invaders of the churchyard of All Saints Church, near the river.
SEPTEMBER 2005: land tidied up, and paths and turf added by employees of Pope Woodward between the Old Grammar School and the river (near All Saints Church). A great improvement on what before. It may be locked up, but that doesn't keep the ducks out!
Snowy Waits
OCTOBER 2005: This photo of the Waits in January 2003, taken from my snow page, is being used for this year's Christmas card at the Norris Museum. The cards are now available from the Norris Museum, 41, The Broadway, St Ives, Cambs PE27 5BX (tel 01480 497314).

NOVEMBER 2005: J Wadsworths wine shop on The Broadway offers a huge choice. It boasts probably the biggest selection of whisky in Britain. The business started in 1869 when it bottled and sold mineral water. It moved into its present premises in the early 1970s when it expanded into the wine and spirits market. Now Rex Wadsworth (the great great grandson of the founder, John Wadsworth) also owns the Dolphin Hotel, and the Pike & Eel and Queens Head pubs at Needingworth.
See here for more about the firm's history.

DECEMBER 2005: the Dickensian Christmas Market on December 4th 2005 was packed out with locals and visitors to St Ives. Bridge Street and Crown Street were full of stalls. This one offered Slovenian handicrafts, food and drink from Medvode, the St Ives linked town. Also see Christmas Market 2005.
Snow scene
JANUARY 2006: there was just a day or two of light snow at the end of December 2005. This was the view looking from the Dolphin Hotel towards the bridge.
