Comments: Sir, my compliments on a wonderful photo site. Its accessibility to novices is refreshing. I recently purchased my first SLR camera (a Pentax ZX-30) and am attempting to move beyond snapshots to making photographs. After approximately 10 rolls of film I find I am still preoccupied with working the camera and forget to carefully consider composition. The example photos on your site underline the importance of emphasis of the subject. I am sure that if I can at least remember to fill the frame with the subject I will produce better photos. Thank-you. Paul Lebowitz

Comments: I consider your site #1 (as in the best I've seen) You are truly a 5 Star site. I've been a Shutter-bug since my first camera as a small child. I've always been just an amature and have kept my love for pictures to myself. I'm pushing forty now and believe I'd like to really learn how to take great photo's. Being very shy, I've been afraid to show anyone my pictures. I'm looking for a place to learn and share. I think I may of just found that place.

Your tips are excellent, particularly the recurrent advice to get in close, to determine what you want the viewer to 'see', and to cut out whatever is extraneous. I will send in a couple of shots of my own just as soon as I have figured how to bring scanned images down to a manageable size. Thank you for a very valuable service.

Comments: I wanted to go digital but had too much invested in an Olympus ISO 3000 - automatic with 28 - 180 zoom and very handy. Have you cheked second hand prices recently - you can't give away automatics however good. I decided to go digital via CD Roms My storge medium holds 36 x 4mb pictures and costs £1 ($1.40) with processing I get it onto CD Rom at 40p (60c) a picture as i don't take prints. Ask your processor about squeezing several films onto 1 CD Rom - saves storage and can be copied onto another CD for very little.

Comments: I've been needing something more in my life besides being a wife, mother of three, a real estate agent and a rental agent. Creativity is missing. I used to take tons of pictures(even took a couple of basic adult school courses) but time is so limited. I'd love to get back into it and I'm especially interested in Black and White photography. I studied and read every one of the photos e-mailed to you (I'm not up on this, I imagine you need a scanner to e-mail these to you) Ok, I admit it, I'm out of it, BUT the desire to create wonderful pictures is strong. Thanks a lot for a great website, I can't wait to get back here. Take Care.

Comments: Simply put, the finest web site I have ever visited. You have put an extraordinary amount of time into a truly useful site without the expected bombardment of advertisement that scars quality web sites. From my limited experience with digital cameras, I have found most of them to be of the point and shoot variety. Are there any that have the manual controls similar to SLR cameras? How does the picture quality of digital cameras compare with the picture qualtiy of medium and large format cameras? I am very excited by the improvements you made to the photos submitted to your website with a photo editing program but I am concerned that after the improvements are made, one has an image that cannot be printed much larger than the sizes shown on your website.

Comments: I have some simple questions... I hope you could help me. :) I want to take photos of meteors, during the meteor showers, and my question is: what do I need for that? How about a 50mm focal length, f3.5 (I can't go under 3.5), 4-5min exposure and ASA 400 film? If a meteor arives 1-2 minutes after I pressed the shutter, should I leave the shutter open for next 2-3 minutes or should I close it down immediately after the meteor tail fades? And finally, I've read specifications for various Nikon cameras, and I didn't find a "T" exposure mode in any model!? Well, it would be VERY frustrating for me to keep the shutter button pressed for 4-5 (or more!) minutes. Or maybe I can program the exposure time in bulb mode? Or else...I hope there is a way to do this - how? Pretty good site, by the way! :) Thank you. :)

Comments: I am a Peace Officer, and my department has decided I should be the one to teach the proper use of cameras to the other officers. I take all of my own photos, and they turn out very good. I just look at the situation, and decide what I need to do, and it works. I use my own equipment, and the department furnishes the film. Now, I must teach them to shoot photos with a simple camera (point and shoot) and these must be good for the courts etc. Not one of my easier tasks. I think I will give them this address, and let them use it for homework. I have browsed a bit, and will do more when I have a little more time. So far it is excellent. It is simple, yet detailed. Thanks, Paul
