Working full time and with a menagerie of animals my garden was getting on top of me. I enjoy my garden and enjoy the time I spend in it at the weekends. however I was spending less time enjoying it than I was working in it. As a treat for my self I asked Phil to bail me out once a fortnight and what a pleasure it has been. He has also reliably come to my rescue when I suddenly had to go away for a fortnight – the garden left with confidence in his capable hands. I asked ‘what do you do in the winter months? Would you consider some decorating? Say no more. Just before Christmas work began decorating here and decorating there inside and out. Phil and his team transformed my home. A good job well done with speed and no mess. A pleasant surprise for my family at Christmas and compliments received on a good job from them and my friends that have visited since. A good hardworking team. Reliable, competent and trustworthy. Have already got my list of jobs for the summer months for Phil and Co. Ssh haven’t told Phil yet, but I have every confidence he will cope. I have absolutely no reservations about recommending P and R.

I am pleased to commend Phil as a handyman and gardener with a difference - above and beyond the general odd jobber. He came to my rescue when a trench was needed urgently to accommodate an oil pipe. So neatly was the trench dug that a builder told me I had had it dug with a machine. And he expertly put together a double flatpack wardrobe without any expletives! (No mean feat) I have recommended him to friends who have similarly been very pleased with what he has done for them - from pressure washing courseys to fence erection.

I first met Philip in March 2006 when I was looking for a gardener. Since then I have been extremely impressed by the standard of his work and his ability to turn his hand to practically everything I have asked him to do, both inside and outside the house. He is very knowledgeable and able to offer advice on all manner of household repairs, maintenance and gardening. He has made many improvements to my garden giving it a more practical design. He has cut down and removed a 12 foot leylandii hedge, tamed overgrown shrubs and bushes, cleaned all external stonework with his power washer, dug out and laid an area of loose chippings as a base for planted pots, and built a patio. On top of this the lawn is well on its way to becoming a bowling green standard. Inside the house he has carried out jobs such as replacing door handles, mending locks, hanging pictures and curtains. Filling holes in plaster and sealing gaps around pipes where they enter the house. In this day and age it is unusual to find someone with Philip’s qualities. He is kind, pleasant and goes out of his way to be helpful. His rates are extremely favourable. He is familiar with local traders and knows where to go to obtain the best value. He will always repair an item if it is possible rather than have money spent on a replacement. He is totally reliable, punctual, scrupulously honest and has never let me down. If he is ever held up and unable to make his next appointment on time he will telephone to let the client know. I have even contacted him in emergencies and he has always come to my aid. I cannot speak highly enough of him and have total confidence that all work he undertakes would be carried out with his expertise, efficiently and professionally.

Phil has been working for me for 10 years, so that is testimony in itself. His work is exemplary and he is a kind, courteous and thoughtful person. No one better!

Firstly I must say that I know Phil Brougham as a friend. As a businessman in Manchester I have learned that it is usually a bad idea to use friends to do jobs, but with a dearth of skilled people willing to undertake to sort out my jungle of a garden I accepted Phil's offer of help. Firstly he cut down all my hedges without in any way harming any of them, and in record time. He didn't just leave me with the vast volume of garden waste as others had done previously, but shredded it for me, mulched around the borders with some of the waste and put the remainder in a compost heap. I anticipated needing a skip at a cost of over £100 for the large initial volume of garden waste, but this was unnecessary. Having done this so well I spoke to him about other jobs, and he informed me of his plans to expand his horizons so that he could fill in time when the weather or season was not suitable for gardening. I looked at his list, and asked him to pressure wash and treat my decking. This is a job I have had done previously by a guy with a cheap car pressure washer and a stiff brush. It took him hours and there were still remnants of fungi/moss/and slime left in difficult to clean areas when he had finished. Phil came along with his professional power washing kt and did the job much quicker, more thoroughly and much cheaper (even taking into account the discount he gave me as a friend) than I had paid before. Phil had his steam cleaner in the van, and offered to fill in some time cleaning a murky carpet we had. I had tried my steam cleaner on the same (which was not much more than a kettle with attachments) without success, and was dubious. I thought I would end up with wet and dirty carpets as was thr result from my own effort. Not so! The result was a fantastic clean and nearly dry carpet. I haven't used Phil's full range of services yet, mainly because his expanded business has by all accounts really taken off well, and he doesn't have the time to come back to Manchester to work. His next social visit might have to be a bit less social and a bit more work based!

P.S I liked the company so much that when Phil said he was looking for capital to expand his range of services I bought into a partnership!

Phil was recommended to me by one of his clients and I have nothing but praise for his work, very friendly man and is willing to help with anything.

My partner and I recently employed P and R Property Services for paving work to extend our driveway. We are over the moon with the results. Phil and Ian worked tirelessly and it was clear to us that they cared as much about it as we did. Such professionals. I knew Phil by reputation and have employed him to do a variety of jobs so when we began thinking about the paving work I knew I wanted to get a quote from him. So glad they didn’t mind travelling all the way to West Yorkshire as I would have been worried if it has been done by anyone else. Ian too was magnificent and I know he specialises in paving, so they make a great team. Thanks again to you both and I’ll be in touch when we know what our next project is going to be!
