A Quick Tour of Acorn Acorn school is situated in a spacious Victorian house in St Andrew's Road, close to the centre of Bedford Town. The building has been cleverly modified and extended to provide the perfect environment for a small school. There is a large assembly hall which doubles as a gymnasium. The school has a large enclosed garden at the rear, giving children ample space to play and enjoy other outdoor activities. The close proximity to Bedford School enables us to extend our facilities and opportunities for the children. We are able to use their swimming pool and the field on various occasions throughout the school year.
Nursery Acorn Nursery has offered children the opportunity to experience the best in Nursery Education for over 15 years. We will start by encouraging them to become more independent and self-reliant, to socialise, to share and to take turns. Talking and listening will help his/her language development. They will follow a curriculum which includes pre-reading and pre-number work using a variety of apparatus as an aid to understanding. Method A variety of themes throughout the year will ensure experience in all areas of the curriculum:
Our fully equipped gym will give them every opportunity to enjoy:
Music is very important for every child. They enjoy singing and percussion, benefiting from working alongside a specialist teacher. Parents and relatives share the children's experience on numerous occasions with end of term concerts. Continuity Your child may leave Acorn and attend the local maintained school, but continuity of methods and environment can be assured by allowing your child to remain with us until they reach seven or eight years old, during which time they will be prepared for entrance examination to Independent schools if you so wish.
