About Acorn

Acorn School in Bedford was opened in 1985 and provides nursery and pre-school education for children aged two to eight.

Mrs Mason, the School’s founder and Principal believes Acorn offers a very personal service where she knows every child. This is a small school but perfectly formed and that is how it will stay.

Acorn offers a full education programme – a point that was warmly praised during a recent inspection – yet it is deeply committed to developing children’s complete potential.

The nursery children will be taught by qualified staff, who ensure the happiness and well being of your children, whilst offering a wide range of opportunities appropriate to their ages thus developing their potential to the full, giving, we believe, a double reassurance to parents.

The children in the school receive a thorough grounding in the National Curriculum Core Subjects of Literacy, Numeracy and Science as well as benefiting from specialist teaching in a wide range of other subjects including Music, French and P.E.

Academic standards are excellent with many children going on to the Harpur Trust Schools in Bedford. But there is no tunnel vision – the aim is to meet the needs of the children. We approach everything with an open mind and we are developing new ideas all the time.

Although Acorn meets the requirements of working parents, it is wholly centred on fulfilling the needs and development of the children entrusted to our care.

At Acorn the child’s inherent curiosity and great eagerness to learn about and experience the world about them will be encouraged and developed. The warm and caring environment is enhanced through the dedication of the staff, which ensures your child is offered the best start to their education.
