Proceeded to the MIDI part of the Pianola unit.

This was straight forward. I just removed all the defunct roll mechanism including all led pipe work. Now where the led pipes went in to the newly restored unit, new 10 mm pipes were fitted. These new pipes simply go through a newly constructed vertical board to the appropriate position.

On the opposite side of this board is a pallet magnet, one for each pipe. All the pallet magnets are now wired up to a connector, I used printer port connectors, as these are available of the shelf. 2 were needed. Some of the connectors are doubled up to provide more current handling for the buzz rail. I used the same contacts for the buzz rail on both connectors this way if they were to be plugged into the wrong port no damage would be done to the MIDI boards.
