By placing the attachment over the valve you want to test and switching on the vacuum, You should find that the corresponding pneumatic motor will move (close) and go back to rest when the vacuum is removed, repeat this test repetitively to make certain the motor fires rapidly.

Before you refit your punch board check all 88 of the pouches, making certain all are in good working order. Pay particular attention to the edges of the Zephyr skins. Any damage of these skins must be rectified before proceeding.

Before the punch board can be refitted one must check that the buttons on the valve board have the correct adjustment. This is just a few millimeters above the mounting face where the punch board will sit.
(I used a ruler). But this measurement
will depend on the thickness of the gasket used.

Now all assembled and working I proceeded to the MIDI part of the Pianola unit.
