Tuesday HousegroupThe Tuesday Housegroup meets in a member's home, usually once a fortnight. At present they number about eight, though not everyone is able to come every time. Their ages range from teens to over-seventies and anyone is welcome. They meet in the evening at a quarter to eight for about an hour and a half. During that time they explore and share their faith as they follow short courses based on Bible study and issues which they face in everyday life. They are a good humoured lot who care for and support each other and together find something of the truth of God. They meet fortnightly from 10am to 12 noon, usually at 18 Waterside Avenue. So far they have studied "Our Calling", Philippians, and The Lord's Prayer and how to pray. They are an all female group (but only because that is the way it happened) and they tend to be over 40 - probably because that's the age when small children are no longer a problem. As a varied group, the discussions can be very wide reaching and as such they welcome input from new people and visitors. They normally follow prepared material, but they try to be flexible to meet questions and needs as they arise. They often begin with an informal time of worship. One of the most valuable aspects of belonging to this group is the friendship and care. Prayer and support are evident whenever needed, not just on a Sunday evening. The venue moves each time to the home of a different person, although there is no pressure to be a host as everyone's circumstances differ. Contact: Kate Turnbull |
